Are you ready for the attention?
I liked that 1996 Mel Gibson movie, too ( Ransom ). But it might not be necessary to go that far. It's easier to avoid attention than most people think. Click on my username to see my profile page. The page gives a link to my Lucky You site dedicated to lottery winners who want to remain anonymous. It's been online for over 10 years (really).

Do you think that it will be possible for the PB Jackpot Winner to ...
At this point, I highly doubt that there will be one winning ticket to this jackpot. However, hypothetically, I think it would be unlikely that they would be able to remain anonymous.

$700 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot raised just hours after initial estimate
If not won Saturday I foresee a trip up 71 N to Ohio since there winners can remain anonymous. Can't do that in Kentucky, but if I won here, that's OK...an LLC would be on the list of must do's.

$400 MILLION: Powerball jackpot surges on rollover
If I won and couldn't stay anonymous I'd not aid in painting a bullseye on myself. Claim, vanish, change your name and hope for the best.

$400 MILLION: Powerball jackpot surges on rollover
I live in a state where winners are anonymous and you have to give written consent to waive that anonymity. I see your point but I don't know that I would make any decision within the first couple of months, at least, to do that. You can never put the genie back in the bottle and your whole life you would be trotted out any time there was a big lottery jackpot (and hopefully not as a cautionary tale). I think I might see how it goes. I would at least want a head start.

$400 MILLION: Powerball jackpot surges on rollover
I think it'd be best to, if you're the sole winner of a billion dollar jackpot. If you try to stay anonymous, it may screw things up for you and everyone else. My speculation based on how the public and politicians would react.

$400 MILLION: Powerball jackpot surges on rollover
In my thread, Are you ready for the attention , I talk about your last statement. I think it would not matter. There would be a HUGE public outcry to know who the winner is. That is, if it gets up that high and there's a sole winner. If that's the case, it'd be best to just take one for the team, so to speak. You know, just to protect other anonymous lottery winners. That's what I'd do.

$400 MILLION: Powerball jackpot surges on rollover
Aren't New Hampshire, Delaware and Maryland anonymous too? Might be closer. and Delaware would be state tax free.
