Multi-state Mega Millions lottery game changing this week
Greed and lack of imagination. It appears they're well down the path to merging the games into one, likely Powerball. After merging, probably be $3 base play and $5 for Powerplay. Too early to say whether Just the Jackpot will remain or go, but my hunch is even if JTJ is popular, it hurts the overall game. Another possible change, regardless of whether the games merge or not, is more drawings per week. PA Lottery recently changed Match-6 from two days per week to everyday. Simple, but unimagi

Is the annuity really worth if anyone does hit?
I do believe the annuity is worth it on lucky for life/cash4life but outside of those two games no not really. I can understand though if someone say an 18-19-20 year old won why they would take the annuity and why it might be smart too.

Is the annuity really worth if anyone does hit?
I know that depending on interest rates for the next couple of years. However what is everyone elses feeling? Is the annuity really worth it? Anyone have a take on this. Too bad my dads been dead for over a yr and a half he would have answered this one. He did tell me that perhaps someone might need the annuity and it depends on their taxes and finances. So whoever does hit this lottery is it for like 30 yrs or something.

$535 MILLION: Huge Powerball sales sparks early jackpot increase
In for 2 lines too. Plus with Powerplay. I'm surprised the jackpot estimate wasn't raised again to say $550 million annuity. Still at $535 million. Could this be another repeat of 2013 in which the estimate was overstated, short-changing the winner. We'll see soon enough. Wager the PB consortium is praying hard that PB rolls again, since MM is growing at a glacial pace. On a related topic, I did some browsing around the TX Lottery, and it's interesting to see the guaranteed base jackpot am

$447.8 million Powerball jackpot sets off shock, speculation in Menifee
They changed the law years ago to you do not have to specify at time of purchase. Now, you have 60 days from the time you claim your jackpot to inform them whether you want the annuity or the lump sum. I suspect with no election, it is an automatic annuity. It can still take up to 12 weeks to collect your loot.

$435 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot on track to 17-month high
I think the winner should decide whether to take the annuity or lump sum based on their age. If they are young then they should take the annuity, but if they are old they should take the lump sum.

lf you won $1million could you see yourself retiring?
Would that be $1 million cash? Or an annuity? If cash, that's about $550,000 after taxes. A 20 year annuity would be $50,000 per year. Since I'm 61 and less than a year away from Social Security, I could retire on either one.

Which game will have the higher Jackpot early this year?
If you look powerball annuity has almost caught up to mega millions annuity so I think powerball will be the bigger jackpot because of the $1 ticket in mega millions. Now if mega millions decides to change to $2 a ticket than mega millions could give powerball a run for their money.-weshar75

Top Prize Information
Do you have to choose between an Annuity option and Lump Sum for just one million? At what point do they stop paying you in one check and start requiring an Annuity?

Current (As of 12-09-16) powerball game jackpot
The interest rate on the annuity changed. Several weeks ago the cash value was about 67% of the annuity value, but now it's only 60%.
