Would you be willing to change your name in order to remain anonymous?
Whether for a short while or not?
If so: Would you consider it a smart move to do so before you claim your jackpot winnings and perhaps after the press has gone on this wild exhaustive goose chase looking for _____________ you take back your Old name?
l read where it has been done before- however would you consider it an option or not in your case, particularly in a State that absolutely prohibits anonymity for Lottery Jackpot Winners?
Personally: Not sure. How about you?

In Australia, winners also have the option of remaining anonymous and most do. There was a kidnapping case back in the '60, a winners child was held for ransom, but sadly killed. The law was changed to allow anonymity as a result.

Amazing how the greatest country in the world can't use common sense and have these things as well.
PS Nah we would rather try to pass bills where you have to pay to be anonymous

Extradition trial begins this week in $16.5M Hot Lotto fraud case
I don't think winners need to be anonymous, but this case is completely irrelevant to the matter. This entire case came about precisely because the lottery was unable to determine the actual identity of the winner. Whether or not that information would have been released to the public has absolutely nothing to do with it.

NY plumber wins $136M Powerball jackpot, splits it with son
Way to go. Congratulations. You might want to keep working, but jealous and vindictive coworkers might make it very unpleasant for you. That's why the option of staying anonymous should always be on the table. With that kind of money, you can create your own job and give yourself any title your little heart desires. Who needs jealous coworkers?.

Would this prevent you from playing?
I would prefer not to win a big jackpot for so many reasons. Privacy and remaining anonymous would be tops on the list. Maybe I'm paranoid, lol. I would give it all away in a heartbeat to charity.

Reasons lottery winners should protect their anonymity
I agree, it is not a leading reason, but a reason nonetheless. My main reason for wishing the to remain anonymous would be family pressure. I can imagine people who win, come under enormous pressure to help , which means hand over cash.

Michigan lottery winners could remain anonymous under House bill
While other states consider bills for winners to remain anonymous, my state wants to reveal MORE personal info of winners such as current street address, date of birth, and social security number. They already have to have your name and picture, isn't that enough?

Texas legislature to consider lottery winner anonymity bill
This actually came to me from a constituent who told me she aspires to win the lottery but she lives on the border and she is afraid of somebody kidnapping her for a ransom Guillen, D-Rio Grande City, said.
But beyond that, we all have heard many stories about being hassled a great deal, folks who win the lottery are hassled by people asking them for money, Guillen said. This will give them the opportunity, the option, that if they want to be anonymous they can be anonymous.

16 N.Y. biotech workers claim $58M Mega Millions jackpot
Remain anonymous if your state rules permit it.
Once people know you re suddenly wealthy, you ll be badgered by requests for handouts from everyone from charities to long-lost friends and relatives not to mention all the financial experts who will be vying for your business. So check state rules to see whether you can dodge them all by remaining anonymous.
Although Mega Millions is a national lottery, rules on winner publicity vary by state. In New York, for example, winners nam
