scratch off amount
Thanks Colthmn,
I know it is alot but I am going for one big shot, and I have been saving for 3 months. Sometime I get to increase the tickets by winning smaller amounts. For instance, I will play my $5 then win $10 or $15 and buy more and save the original $5, that way I'm not out anything. I don't even think about playing the $1. In my opinion, they are pathetic. Maybe one day I'll win one of the 10 original instants that are still in play. The last time I checked, there were 5 claimed,

Which gives me a better chance of winning a lottery?
Coin Toss, I sold furniture in an upscale area of FL for years. During the housing bubble I furnished a few homes in Olde Naples for investors who paid $1 million cash, and sold them for $1.5 million in less than years. There's no way they could get all that interest in the bank or the stock market without risk. I agree with you almost 100%. Just get an amortization table.
On the other hand (the reason I said almost) I also agree that paying cash when you can get a very low rate and are makin

Mega Millions 2008
Especially with PB at $100 million, it will take 2 more rolls before MM passes the $300 million mark, but that isn't all that unlikely. Fifteen 5+0 winners when there are 46 mega numbers means that no more than 1/3 of the mega numbers were played for that combination. The current increase in the cash value is about $25 million, which means they expect to sell about 75 million tickets. Accounting for duplicate combinations, roughly 35% of combinations will be played, so there's a 65% chance it wi

Why do some people feel computerized drawings are not random?
From what I've read here, BobP's answer sums it up. It's not so much that people think it's so hard to create a decent RNG, it's that people are sure there will be some conspiracy to manipulate the RNG. The conspiracy may take any of a few forms. One is that the lottery will manipulate the RNG to select numbers that maximize their profit. Another is that the programmer(s) who write the RNG code, and/or the people who guard the computers, and/or the people who execute the drawings will manipulate

When you win a small prize
I stick to my informal budget that ensures that I have a play in every draw for Mega Millions and Powerball and an advance play for state lotteries over $10 million (like Indiana and Michigan are now; when I get the chance to visit Florida, California, and Texas I will usually purchase the max advance play just because those state lottery jackpots increase at a much faster pace than do Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan...like $3 - 7 million rollover increases versus 100 thousand to 1 million rollo

Ohio Gov. plans lottery expansion to increase revenues
Gov. Ted Strickland's plan to boost Ohio's struggling economy anticipates $73 million in new revenue from an expansion of the lottery, which includes a video version of Keno to be offered in bars and other age-controlled venues.
The governor said he distinguishes the new games from the video gambling machines outlawed in 2007 because they will be state-monitored, state-controlled and state-regulated. His spokesman, Keith Dailey, said the Keno game is much different from video slot machines

Programs for dynamic wheel construction?
What do you mean by dynamic wheel construction? I assume when you're talking about a lottery wheel, you're talking about a group of combinations that guarantee a certain out come if certain conditions are true but once you filter out some of those combinations, the guarantee is also filtered out unless you reconstruct the wheel another way.
When I was into using wheelings, I used CoverMaster to create the basic wheel and when I replaced the wheel numbers with my numbers, many times I got com
