computerized drawings
I think more and more states will go computerized because it is cheaper, and we all know it's all about the money. The only thing that would stop the trend is for a major scandle to break where it comes out that some drawing is rigged or some smart computer whiz hacked into a computer. Part of me hopes that happens so that they will go back to and continue live drawings. I'm a data base engineer and have been working in the computer industry since 1980. Any system that man can create, anot

Some information about Powerball
Some great information here...it just reaffirms my desire to see that we keep the numbered balls and the mechanical draw machines instead of rng computerized draws. Rotating machines and ball sets just makes me more confident that the lottery is being run right and doing it's best to produce random and fair draws. Glad to hear about the drawings being open to the public for viewing. Living not too far from Des Moines and Iowa City, I might just go ahead and ask to observe one of those draws som

Group buys every Pick 3 lottery combination and wins
Well, it took forever and a day (been very busy) but I finally found out that you can cash a $600 dollar winner at the store in MO without filling out any paper work. I had one of the local lottery agents call the lottery office to confirm. At least, that was a relief. To bad they totally destroyed the rest of the game. The number 6 has not been drawn even once in the first position in all 30 drawings of the computerized numbers in the eve. I wait to see how long it takes to come in (if at all).

I'm new to this Game...AND frustrated!
EDIT: I just checked my numbers, and guess what was drawn today in the Day ... 777. Go figure. I was thinking of playing triples too. Maybe next time. From my understanding, pseudo-random number generators (RNGs) will draw numbers with differing short-term distribution patterns (ie. clusters and non-clusters) than non-computerized methods, such as balls. However, both methods should result in the same very long-term distribution of numbers. Ie. 100 million Pick 3 draws should result in nearly

Hackers & the lottery...
This is a quote from the Missouri Lottery's website(picture is above): [Quote] The Lottery s computerized drawing system, which was implemented on July 19, 2004, uses new technology to select the numbers for the Numbers Games. The computerized system software, named ODDS (Online Daily Draw System), is housed in a secure draw room in Jefferson City. These draw computers are not connected to the Internet or any other network source. The room has no other phone or data

Could the Lottery offical do this??
Ever since I developed my own system and when somebody once mentioned that the drawings aren't seen live on tv (at least not for the PowerBall and the Arizona lotteries), I've thought about this a lot. And I'll tell you what I honestly think. Once, while tracking the PowerBall using my own system, I noticed once that I had 12 aberation drawings in a row. Now, what this is equivalent to is flipping a coin and having that coin land 12 times in a row on heads, only. Now, the chances of this happeni

I Won 4 Times This Week In California
Remember now in PA the Midday drawings are Computerized and the Evening drawings are Machine drawings. NEVER try to mix them! Use a math-based algorithm for the Middays (or avoid them even.. I have won many times on Eve but never on Mid) and use a stats-based algo for Eve. One other problem in PA they add or remove a game almost yearly! My system doesn't get a chance to latch onto any patterns before they dump it, so only on the 3 and 4 have I ever won enough to be worth a 40 mile trip to there.

ARKANSAS LOTTERY DRAWINGS TO BE COMPUTERIZED
I agree, and I don't actually think such a breach is intentional on the part of the people responsible for maintaining a secure drawing. But, just like we all saw yesterday with Twitter -- a service with a multi-million-dollar IT budget -- any computer system can be hacked, and it is rarely done by someone responsible for maintaining the system. ANY computer system can be hacked. There are fabulous techniques for maintaining security, but there has never been a security technique invented

POLL 2 of 3: Switching to computerized drawings
The problem with switching from ball to computer drawings is that lotteries with fixed payouts and can lose money on some outcomes. And as we saw in Tennessee, computers can be programmed so only certain combinations will come out. When people go to race tracks they can see how much money is being bet on each horse or dog. Some lotteries publish how much was wagered and paid off on the games, but we'll never know how much was wagered on each losing combination. Race track profits don't depen

Why states go RNG drawings
Most lotteries, if not all, install computers because they are cheaper, by tens of thousands of dollars. They, with the possible exception of Indiana, had and have no intention of manipulating results. They know that the diehard, 100-quick-picks-at-a-time players don't care how it's drawn, and that's the only players they really care about because they make them the most money. All lottery directors need is the feeling that the computers are secure and fair, apparently few lottery dir
