Restaurant workers split $4 million lottery jackpot
I understand what you are writing, but one reason we see so many pools win is that the odds increase quite a bit when 16 or 20 people are buying tickets. If you have enough of your own money (or don't mind blowing it) to buy that many tickets, then maybe a pool isn't for you. I think it's great that all those people won and I agre with tntea it would be very exciting.
However, I also agree that I wouldn't want to split a jackpot 16 ways if I used my own numbers. I've been playing my own nu

More Than $15 Million in Prizes!
Approximately 1.2 million $1,000,000 EXPLOSION tickets are initially planned in this game. The New Jersey Lottery reserves the right to subsequently increase this quantity of tickets. Should additional tickets be introduced, prize levels and frequency of winning will be consistent with the following disclosures:
In the $1,000,000 EXPLOSION Instant Game, New Jersey allocates approximately 65% of the gross receipts to prizes. On the average, better than 1 ticke

Okla. Lottery Commission struggles to meet its 35% profit requirement
As a result of the finance and audit committee's dreary budget forecasts for fiscal year 2008, the Oklahoma Lottery Commission is planning to trim costs and attempt to get a key statutory requirement of the commission eliminated.
The board plans to try to amend out a requirement that the Lottery Commission post a 35-percent profit in their third year of operations.
The board said they are doing all they can to trim operating costs without cutting current staff and advertising expenditures,

Opponents of lottery say 'I told you so'
A database consultant alleges the N.C. Lottery didn't deliver the money promised
By Frank Koconis
The N.C. Education Lottery has been in operation for barely a year, and so far the state has seen little benefit from it. The promised boost in education funding is much smaller than expected, and for certain programs, nonexistent. Even worse, some of the ominous predictions of those who originally opposed the lottery appear to be coming true.
The lottery simply isn't bringing in nearly as

Quick Picks can't match the power of Self Picks
One of the advantages of picking your own numbers is you can introduce a bias that shouldn't and can't exits with QPs.
For example, since MegaMillion changed its matrix 231 drawings back the winning combinations have matched 2000 of the 27720 possible combinations of 3's in a pool of 56 numbers. Each combination of 5 have 10 of them and about 50% of the winning combinations have 10 new ones and 40% have 9 new ones every drawing. By making sure the combinations you play have as many new co

Tennessee Lottery players unanimous in their discontent with drawings
Unfortunately, ball drawings can be rigged as well. Individual balls can be fractionally larger, smaller, lighter and/or heavier than others in the same bin to increase or decrease the possibility of that ball being attracted or blown into the exit chute. But, for most lottery aficionados, it's a better alternative than RNGs.

Single winner in $314M Powerball lottery drawing
At the Circle K store on the corner of U.S. 231 and Chestnut Street in Crawfordsville, assistant manager Teresa Aguilar said she's noticed a steady increase in lottery sales throughout the week.
I had about eight people on Wednesday tell me, 'If I win, I'll come back and get your name,' Aguilar said.
That one is almost as old as The check is in the mail , but why get a stranger hopes up? It could be a binding contract, however simply getting a person name doesn't mean you're going to

Powerball & Megamillions Growing
OMG, again with the cap talk. People, the PowerBall isn't capped at $390M. If it rolls to $375M, there will be a cap of $400M. You people need to look at the INCREASE cap. Also, I think some of you are becoming obsessed with the cash value argument. It's already been discussed that PowerBall and Mega Millions each have their advantages. There's nothing wrong with someone taking the annuity option. You people need to be less comparative with these 2 games. They're not run by the same organization

Powerball & Megamillions Growing
This is quoted from the PowerBall website:
Whenever the Powerball jackpot reaches a record level, the amount of the jackpot prize is limited to increases for each draw of no more than $25 million.
The difference that 340-315=25 and 365-340=25 is just a coincidence and has nothing to do with the increase cap. If you don't get it now, then there's no hope for you to get it at all.

No, you have it wrong. The 2 records, the $340M record and $365M record were won from 2 different runs.

The 2 record jackpots were 4 months apart from each other. The fact the $365M record was $25M more than the $340M record has nothing to do with the $25M increase cap, it just happened to come o
