States that offer winners the choice of anonymity
The law needs to change so every state that has a lottery can let a person claim anonymously. If I ever won the big one would either form a trust or go collect my winnings with a paper bag over my head. I have always hated having pictures taken of me so I know there are not many of me out in the world. Frankly it's very dangerous to the lottery winners who comes forward to claim their winnings, it feels like they have a target on their backs Sooooo wish I lived in an anonymous state but I don't.

Bill would allow N.C. lottery winners to remain anonymous
It's a very good idea to have the option to remain anonymous. When I win the big $$ I'm going to do everything I can do protect my privacy. No reporters, no cameras, no interviews. All communication will be done via my attorney. The Internet can provide too much information about a winner and his/her family. Safety is paramount with big wins.

I was thinking the same thing. Those states that allow people to remain anonymous seem to be doing ok and I don't hear anything about the lottery being fixed from the people who live in those states and play. Besides, even those states that have the anonymity option still have people come forward with their names. So its not like everyone who wins will choose anonymity. Some people want the 15 minutes of fame that comes with winning or just don't care that people know that they won.

5 Star Rating System
Dead_Aim, Maybe anonymous ratings are a good idea, I'm not sure though. As is right now, and not just predictions but threads in general, there is a small contingent of people that give nothing but 1 star ratings for spite and no other reason. Most of the people who do this have themselves never started a thread and that speaks volumes. They don't even get as far as content but stalk certain posters, see the name as starting a thread, and 1 star is given. Sad really, if that's all a

Are you happier when a regular lottery player wins a jackpot?
I guess it does make a difference to some LP members based on their congrats to winners assuming I suppose, those winners read LP. Some will even give congrats to trusts and anonymous winners. The feel good stories are nice, but I didn't win, nobody I know won so who cares.

We will honor requests for anonymity from winners
My state(Louisiana) doesn't allow anonymity, but the winner can decline to have a photo taken if they so choose. The only way to be anonymous here is to claim as an entity.

It's time the lottery needs to stop releasing a person name and picture when a big win is won!
The winner in Puerto Rico was able to claim anonymously. Great place to win the lottery you don't have to pay federal taxes and you can remain anonymous.

Bill would allow Texas Lottery winners to pay for anonymity
It comes down to greed. I was able to be anonymous for up to 1 year after a large prize back in 2014 for free

I think all states should pass a law making anonymity an available option. Winners can remain anonymous in South Carolina, and thus far there have been no known cases of fraud associated with that option.

This wouldn't stop someone from having to pay back money on child support, back taxes, school loans and other things. Those get taken out before you receive your money. I believe most states check to see what you owe first. Being allowed to be anonymous won't stop that from happening.
