13 State Employees to Share $224 Million Powerball Lottery Jackpot
Last year lots of the jackpots that were hit were very small. You remember that phenomena? People were scratching their heads wondering if Powerball had finally hit the wall, because it seemed to get hit so often.
As I described above, when the jackpots get really big, the number of pool players grows exponentionally. And the jackpots have been getting huge as of late. In fact, I ran a news story stating how this was the first back-to-back $200+ million jackpot.
People play Powerball t

Florida Lotto Rollover
Please don't misunderstand me. I was only guessing that the jackpot rolled over from the information I could obtain, since they are still having technical problems. Nothing has been officially announced to the best of my knowledge. However, since the last rollover went from $50 to $64 million, I'm guessing it will increase by at least that much, but a lot of people left Florida this week as they do every year.
Edit: Just checked the results page here at LP and it DID rollover and the jac

Why not a lottery that goes "wide"?
dvdiva
Very true, but we're talking 20,000,000 (six number games), and 575,000 to one odds (5 /39) to one odds as oppossed to 176,000,000 to one odds.
I'm saying just increase the potential number of winners.

50/50 Strategy
By the way, the above percents are based on RANDOM choices.
I would not just pick any-one out of 2 or 4 or 8 or 64.
I would study the history of the numbers and or patterns and their statistics and then make my choice(s) of what to predict and or of what to filter out, in this way one hopes to increase his or her chances of success.

Powerball Back-to-Back Jackpots Set Record
May they each roll for one more week. I have no problem seeing the amounts increase. Tis true that the PB lacks the cash payouts in comparison to MegaBall. I'd be content to hit both at the second tier level. Though my heart is set on winning both!
Not keen on the fact that PB is winning the cash , hand over foot, by seeing the rolls! The interest they are making off that is more then profitable! They need to back off their greediness. Its the players money not theirs! We should have more sa

maximun capacity of players....
50% of sales going to the States is no big secret, it written in their laws and clearly stated on most of their websites. On most of the states websites for PowerBall and MegaMillions it's stated that 32% of local sales goes to the jackpot pool, 18% goes to pay off the local winners of 5+0 and less and the rest goes to the states. This formula didn't change when the matrix of both games changed. The matrix was changed to increase the odds of the jackpots getting bigger before being hit. A la

maximun capacity of players....
guys i feel that pick3 and pick4 lottery games can be compared to a ship...Just the same way a ship has a maximun capacity of Passengers it can hold so is the pick3 and pick4 games...Sort of speak: there is a limit to the amount of players these games can hold/withstand/carry before the lottery corporation starts loosing money and have to end up increase the numbers of the game...
what you all think...

Tax/How much Tax on Prize under $5,000?
Just to be safe I would pay 10% to the state and 20% to the federal government. Smaller prizes don't generally increase your tax bracket by that much larger prizes generaly do. That's why you have to pay on larger prizes immediately. By tax bracket I mean how much tax you owe on the money that you currently make before other winnings. So so answer your question it depends on the tax bracket that you in and the tax bracket that the smaller prize may put you in. Consult your tax advisor for a

Possible number combinations...
instead of 0-9 you would have it from 0-15 or whatever number you desire....or what if you had pick4 but you increase the range so that i will be instead of from 0-9 you will have from 0-14....i can find out how many total combination the game will have if you increase the range but i can't find how many ways each combination of numbers can be boxed/arranged of a particular game range....
As far as I know, it's physically impossible to write 0-15 in a chart, with the same parameters and

Florida 60% payouts
Cash, am I misunderstanding you? I once posted in response to this question that I check out the payouts every time someone claims a jackpot for MegaMoney and Lotto and they are usually 70-75% (for MegaMoney) and 55-65% (for Lotto) depending on the amount of tickets purchased. I've seen payouts for the Lotto as high as 67%, but never less than 50%..usually more. As John wrote above, the payouts are pari-mutuel including Fantasy 5 and are based upon the total revenues for that particular drawing
