Bill would allow Texas Lottery winners to pay for anonymity
I think it's a great idea. If you want to be anonymous then just shell out some money, it really should be public information who has won though. Let's just keep it all transparent. Your biggest threats will come from people you already know anyways. We as lottery players have the right to know who we have lost money to and that the person who has won is a real person

It's time the lottery needs to stop releasing a person name and picture when a big win is won!
I live in Georgia near the South Carolina/Georgia state line. The main reason I go to SC to play mega and PB is because of the anonymous option!

Bill shielding Arizona lottery winners set for Senate vote
It doesnt have to be a circus. You can say as much or as little as you want but we as losing players do need to know that an actual living breathing person has won and not some anonymous ghost who we cant put a face and name together on

It's the winner's life that is at stake. Statistics show you're being overly dramatic. If you'll give me a verfiable number of total lottery winners over the last 20 yrs. along with the number of people known to have been murdered for their winnings in that same time period, then I'll give your statement some validity. Until then, however, it's nothing more than hyperbole. After this thread was started, I've done a lot of reading and research on lottery winners killed ; I came up with these

LOL right officials telling their friends about winning the lottery they arent even supposed to be playing, but yes that is one reason why it should not be any anonymity. The majority of people who want to hurt you or will hurt you in these kinds of situations would be someone you know anyways. So anonymous or not you still could be hurt be someone who knew about your situation anyways.

Alright, if you want to think lottery officials would be winning if it was anonymous, lottery officials could be telling their friends, and those friends telling their friends how to win right now as we speak.....That is a whole new level of paranoia you got there dude. I now see the light on how outrageous some of what I say is.

$450 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot nears record
Before you even contact the lawyer the first and most important thing is to MAKE SEVERAL COPIES OF THE TICKET!! Then hire a lawyer followed by moving out of your house and into a hotel or whatever if you are in state where you have to come forth publicly to claim your prize. At least here in Maryland, winners can remain anonymous so I could stay in my house, but hell I'm out of here and this state if I win!

Missing 86-year-old Detroit lottery winner found dead
So sad my condolences to the family. The main reason to remain anonymous,in some states you must show up in person, but you can come incognito.A guy somewhere can,t remember where, came in a bear costume to pick up the check.

Requiring a name and a picture is just purely reckless disregard for the winners safety. Some will blame it on a persons life style, which is taking the easy route to avoid what people really want, and that is discussing anonymous winner claims.

Retired NY principal claims $326M lottery jackpot
I think it is a pity he has to be identified, because he has to move house now; which is more difficult at 80. New York should reconsider it's policy and allow winners to remain anonymous. If you live in New York, contact your state politicians.
