Some information about Powerball
Lottomike powerball and megamillions was initially set up because the people in America wanted a game who's jackpots would grow from draw to draw. So they put it together. After some time the people complained that the pots weren't big enough so they changed the game to favor bigger pots by changing the game (added more balls) the odds were also increased. The people were satisfied once again that the pots were growing. As the popularity of the games grew so did the amount of players. So in fact

For some lottery winners jackpot is a 'nightmare'
Quote: Originally posted by four4me on November 19, 2004 I also think when people win a lot of money they get intoxicated by it's effect on them being able to buy whatever they want and do things they only dreamed about. And some who win smaller amounts might spend it all trying to win again. Like if you win 2,000.00 on a scratch off for a buck. You might pay off a few small bills with it. More likely you'll spent twice the amount you won trying to win again. Common sense doesn't fit into the equ

For some lottery winners jackpot is a 'nightmare'
I am a financial advisor and the saddest thing I have ever seen was regarding a lottery winner. A bartender used to have a BUM(really a BUM) by his lottery ticket and told him that if we win I'll split it with you. He won about $2,000,000 and split it with the BUM. He go about $650,000.He comes in my office, wearing the Lottery t-shirt they gave him, ripped dirty pants, greasy hair, no teeth, and a wife to match. They smelled. The sad part is that when they recieved the money they were no l

Not in the business of giving numbers
Blackapple has done us many good deeds and we should appreciate his time and effort. I hate the thought of him ever leaving this forum because of a heavy load that some put on him. I know how it is with all the pm's for numbers. I have noticed an increase in my own pm's asking for numbers since has come into the forum hot and heavy. It is not my job or Blackapple's job or anyone else's job to pick the numbers for you.I have the kindest heart in the world......but my time is valuable just as

Warning to AOL Users
I have been through 4 dial-up ISPs, DSL at work, OC-12 at Lucent (hands down the best, the connection is faster than the PC! connected 2 plants for archiving terabytes of test and quality data, the regular connection to the net was a T-1, also choice!).I have Cable at home, Comcast @ 3 megs! Outside of the increase in pings to ports I shut down (like the old back orifice ports UDP 31337 31338) I have no complaints either. The good far outweighs the bad with cable. THere are many links in a ch

taxessss and the lottery
It would be nice to be able to deduct all your loses from your winnings before considering them as additional taxable income . Over two years ago I matched 5 of 6 in the Ohio Lottery which paid $1500. Since I could only deduct a loss up to the amount I won and not my actual lost, the fact that I spent $2500 for lottery tickets and won $1500 actually increased my taxes for that year. I ended up having to pay $300 more taxes to cover the $1500 increase in my income even though my net gain was a
