Question? How does one deposit $550 million in the Bank?
I have a good online friend who married a woman from Cyprus; they were really worried about her retirement savings accts. about a year ago when all that went down. I don't know what exactly happened b/c their finances are none of my business, but have been thinking about emailing her and asking if everything was OK now or if she moved her money. I know they've got plans to retire there in a few yrs., so I guess they have more confidence now.
(and on the subject, she had to jump through hoo

I would be happy with 10 million dollars, what about you?
I hear alot of people talking about a 1 billion dollar mega millions pot. But, what would make you happy, how much money would make you happy? Me, after giving my family money, I would be happy with 10 millions dollars to retire on.
10,000,000 - 3,000,000 dollar house = 7,000,000
cars, house stuff ($300,000), house taxes per/year ($1,230,000) - 7,000,000 = 5,470,000
$5,470,000 / 41 years = $133,415.00 a year budget with hardly no bills. Would this make you happy or would you need more?

Powerball winner dies penniless, 12 years after winning $27 million
Yep, and if the few pics I browsed through are recent, it makes me wonder if she's still not using. I hope not, esp. b/c of the baby. Her other child looked healthy and well-cared for, so maybe she's clean. I pray she is.
Yeah, some of those comments annoyed me, esp. one saying we shouldn't have criticized him for what he bought. Well, sorry, other than the cars, house and jet, it was crap and probably depreciated 75%+ as soon as he walked out the door with the stuff. I really wasn't criti

I knew Pedro Quezada was a dinkhead and blow all that money..
Sorry, but once you invest your winnings properly, you'll come out ahead of the annuity. And since there are many winners who take the annuity and still end up bankrupt, annuity is no guarantee against blowing it all. A winner needs financial discipline no matter what.
But I'm curious as to why you feel he's blown his money. Where do you see any evidence of that? He capped out at the max he could gift without going over, so he didn't have to pay gift tax (so someone obviously advised him abo

NJ Powerball winner wants his old life back
, Jill34786. It's a shame that Willie and Donna think they had $4M Net to spend from. Good thing they didn't go out and spend over $500K yet. I think the ending amount of apx.
$2.8M is enough for he and his wife to retire though. I think it's good that they spent on those six necessary, large immediate family items. I hope they can somehow declare their father as a dependent and therefore deduct his high cancer treatment medical expenses on this year's income taxes, payable next year.
Now

NJ Powerball winner wants his old life back
Maybe I missed something here with good 'ol Willie, but I don't quite get the issue.
It's not like he was the sole winner of a $450 mil jackpot. The JP was split all kinds of ways and the story says he cleared 'less than 4 million' after taxes.
So, why is this so overwhelming to deal with? That's a nice chunk of change and most folks should certainly be able to retire off that. But you don't need a battery of lawyers/tax guys/ financial planners to handle that amount.
And some folks ca

16 maintenance workers said to be New Jersey Powerball winners
Oh, OK , my calculations are wrong then as I did'nt use the cash value for my basis,
yes 2.7 Is much closer to the clear.
Thanks
No wonder everyone still went to work, not enough to retire w/out thinking It over unless you're already close to It,
most of the winners look to young for that.
