Quick Picks versus Own Numbers
What? Quick picks are random numbers produced by a random number generator. There is just as much chance winning with quick picks as there is picking your own. Of the first 59 winners of the powerball, 41 were quick picks. That's just because a higher percentage of people use quick picks. Think that if you use the same numbers for each draw they will dventually come up? Yes, they will, but at 104 draws a year, it would take 1,150,000 years for all the combos to come up. There is nothing you can

Pick 5 or 5 ball lottery
Hi FolksGuess you may be looking for some new blood here to maybe contribute some ideas. Maybe I can share some of the observations I have made.I live in New York, so the game I play is the Take 5 (3/39) drawing. I have been keeping track of this game for the last 10 years. My database of winning combinations is just short of 1500 winners.RJOH, I was looking at your 10/28/02 post with the list of 269 combinations, concentrating on non repeat of a 3 number duplication. Your rate of return was

Pairs and Pairs Chart
Rose,After your post on the boxed pairs I decided to fiddle around with them (pairs) awhile. I started out by creating a matrix of all the possible pairs:00 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 9001 11 21 31 41 51 61 71 81 9102 12 22 32 42 52 62 72 82 9203 13 23 33 43 53 63 73 83 9304 14 24 34 44 54 64 74 84 9405 15 25 35 45 55 65 75 85 9506 16 26 36 46 56 66 76 86 9607 17 27 37 47 57 67 77 87 9708 18 28 38 48 58 68 78 88 9809

odds are odds....regardless of coincidences
Just to set the record straight on a few points mentioned in this thread:1. Buying the 2nd ticket DOES increase your odds to 2 in 1,000,000. The difference is miniscule, but mathematically, those are the odds.2. For all intents and purposes, the lottery drawings are random . However, the scientific fact is that the lottery machines are just that: machines. Mankind has NEVER produced any machine that is 100% random. To say that lottery balls have no memory is not the issue. Perhaps there is one

odds are odds....regardless of coincidences
If the odds of picking the winning set of numbers is 1 in 1,000,000, then buying two tickets for a game with those odds DOES NOT give you 2 in 1,000,000.Playing the same numbers over and over again does not increase the chances of those numbers being winners. Every time there is a draw those numbers have the same chance of coming up that they had the first time.Further, if some numbers have been winners more often than others, it does not mean they are more likely to come up again as winners. Powerball
Sunday, July 7, 200211:40 PM ET - Powerball to undergo changes starting October 6, 2002. Beginning October 6, Powerball will undergo several changes, in order to grow jackpot sizes, account for a larger player base as new states are added, and to more effectively compete with rival multi-state lottery Big Game Mega Millions. Powerball's twenty-two states, plus the District of Columbia, will make the following changes:The number pool will increase - players will choose five numbers from 1 to 53 (

12-10=2 MIL
When a lottery sets a minimum jackpot level, they are able to do it with the use of a reserve fund. A small percentage of every ticket does into the reserve fund. In the Canadian national lotteries (Super 7 and Lotto 649) the reserve fund comes from 3% of every ticket sale. I suspect it is smaller for Mega Millions and Powerball because the jackpot is rarely won when it is at its minimum level.Since Mega Millions came from the Big Game, they probably simply transferred over the existing Big Game

Mark/please read
A slight difference in the longitude, and latitude, should not matter to much, neither should rounding the seconds. First let me explain this, I believe in a magnetic electrical energy that travels thru out the universe, that helps keep everything in balance, and the planets location are reflected in lottery numbers. The ephemeris charts that I have always used for the last several years have always been a day chart that gives the general locations of the planets. I have always felt that if I co
