Next HUGE jackpot winner..Working class hero/enemy??
That wasn't my point at all. I shouldn't have mentioned AIG as it is obviously a Hot topic for many people. Some people feel like NO ONE is entitled to have that kind of money while people are out of work during this recession. I think Congress is exploiting these feelings by tageting AIG. I don't know if they deserved the money more than anyone else. Who deserves millions of dollars? What have most people done that warrants that much money? Have you or I done that many GOOD things in life we ac

Court: elderly sisters' gambling pact forces lottery jackpot split
It's a bit strange. I wonder if the contract was for life. It was ten years between the contract signing and the year that one of the sisters won the jackpot. But how long have they been fighting? One year, two or all ten?

Tenn. Lottery asks firms to pay cost for error
Asked? ASKED?! It wasn't written in the contract that the supplier wouldn't be responsible for its own errors? Whoever was involved in the authorship and review of that contract ought to be canned.

Lotto Win/Job Decision
I'm retired now, so it is no longer an issue. However, had I won back in my teaching days, I would have completed the contract year before quitting or claiming the jackpot. Or if the win was in the first semester, I'd have made a request to be let out of the contract so that I could claim the jackpot after the end of the semester. Washington State allows only 180 days to make a claim and there is no way I'd want to be teaching in a high school after the students knew I was a millionaire!

Florida Lottery won't pay $500,000 winner, called 'misprint'
Just my opinion here, but if I were to draw up a legal contract and it had a misprint on it, I would still be liable for that contract. I don't see any difference here. They should pay for their misprint mistakes and work harder to make sure there aren't anymore. That is, if in fact, it was their fault.

Lottery win is early wedding gift
When a couple get married in a public setting regardless of their trust of each other, they are completing a legal contract witnessed by friends and family. What's different about prenuptial agreement? Couples who don't want a binding contract, agreement or understanding don't get married, they shack-up or maintain a friendship with benefits and no obligations.

$8 million lottery dispute grips Spain
From watching TV court shows, I understand that in order for a contract to be enforceable it must be beneficial for all competence parties concerned, there's no such thing as a contract without benefits or considerations. If you're not offering any benefits or considerations then it's like a gift or charitable donation which is unenforceable. (Considerations could be no more than just picking some lucky numbers for him to play)

N.C. lottey commission to announce vendor choice
I don't really care who wins the on-line contract. But I want SciGames to win the instant contract. Oberthur tickets are very hard to scratch off. In fact they aren't even scratch-off tickets, but rather scrape-and-peel-off tickets. You Virginia and Maryland players should know what I'm talking about.
