Why do people try to justify their desire to win the Lottery?
I can't find it now, but I read a news article about a couple somewhere east of the mississippi - maybe on the eastern seaboard - who won the lottery and tried to tithe to their church. They were denounced as sinners, the tithe was refused, and they were ostracized in their community. Many Christian churches DO believe gambling is a sin. Mormons also believe it's a sin.

incredible story
I found the article and translated from the French. I looked for articles on Sylvain Renaud and Loto. Maybe this isn't the same person, but in Sept, 2 good buddies played the same numbers and both of them won. I'll send the link to Todd.

Lawsuit challenges N.C. Lottery
I'm surprised they didn't use the God argument. I'm actually surprised that NC has a lottery, and I believe it will be short lived. Look back at the article about how the community shunned the $800,000 Powerball winner. NC's mentality cannot handle a lottery. I have a funny feeling that VA, TN, GA, and SC will soon see increased ticket sales from NC buyers.

Kentucky Lottery's new '3 Line Lotto' starts next Monday
Whoa! You really butchered what the article said. You only have to get 6 numbers on the same row to win the jackpot.

Calif. state workers bet the same lottery numbers 10 years -- and win
How many games have gone for 10 years without changing the matrix? The current version of CA's super lotto plus started in 2000, so if the group was playing the same numbers 10 years ago it wasn't in the current game. The article also doesn't say anything about what games they may have been playing. It's possible that they've played those same numbers in several different games over the years.

Lawyer in $315 million lottery lawsuits ordered to pay fine
The item in the article I found very interesting was that the defendants ... contend it was their first time they took part in the office pool. Therefore how it would have been very difficult to prove there was an oral agreement that everyone would be included whenever they pooled their money to buy ticket. That may have been why the judge took the action he did. Had there been a history of purchases with a patttern of activity developed, it might have been different.

Retailers luckier than expected, Atlantic Lotto says
Yikes. Must be because I've been working all week without much light. I thought the article said Atlanta not Atlantic even though it later mentioned Ontario. Glad I have the weekend to renew brain cells.

Retailers luckier than expected, Atlantic Lotto says
One Sat night while purchasing my Lotto tickets, a clerk was talking about all of the employees who had won at that store, including a $10,000 scratch ticket. I just shrugged my shoulders, assuming there was little truth to his stories or they were just very lucky, but this article makes me wonder.

Wonder where the other half of 390 mill is?
I saw an article on this awhile back, and I don't think a trust fund is mandated. BUT it did say you can't just deposit a huge check into your normal checking or savings, you need a special account.
