Georgia legislature wants lottery to crack down on bonuses
Lawmakers are moving to increase legislative oversight of the Georgia Lottery Corp. because of anger about the $3 million in employee bonuses the organization handed out last year.
The House Higher Education Committee on Thursday passed a bill giving legislative leaders the authority to appoint two-thirds of the Lottery Corp. board.
Currently, the governor appoints the board, which oversees the corporation and approves its budget.
The legislation, which would require the new board to ap

Calif. Gov: Sell lottery to fund health care
Hoping to rejuvenate lagging negotiations over health care reform, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Tuesday that he wants to use the state lottery to help finance his plan that would require all Californians to have health insurance.
The Republican governor said at a news conference that he wants to lease the lottery to a private group and use about $2 billion a year of the proceeds to pay for his health insurance plan, without diverting any lottery funds used for education.
The proposal is

Single winner in $314M Powerball lottery drawing
There is a winner.
Powerball lottery officials say one winning ticket was sold for Saturday night's $314 million jackpot.
It was purchased in Indiana.
The pot had grown so huge because there had not been a big winner in any of the drawings since late June.
Also winning big in the drawing were 36 lucky players who matched the first 5 numbers for a second prize win of $200,000.
Winners of the second prize were from the following states: 2 from Arizona, 2 from Connecticut, 3 from W

A new Pick 10 game is also on the way
For the first time in its 33-year history, the Ohio Lottery plans to hold Sunday drawings.
Adding Sunday drawings to the daily Pick 3, Pick 4 and Rolling Cash 5 games will mean additional sales of $26 million to $34 million next year, with increased profits of $10.9 million to $14.3 million, lottery director Mike Abouserhal said at a Commissioners meeting in March.
Commission members were briefed on the specifics of the new draws at the April 16 com

N.C. Lottery celebrating 1st birthday
First year not as profitable as predicted
Now a year old, the North Carolina Education Lottery is meeting its goal of keeping residents from crossing the border to buy tickets but failing to reach financial expectations initially touted by lawmakers and Gov. Mike Easley.
The lottery has set aside $220 million in profits for state education programs since the first tickets were sold March 30, 2006, removing North Carolina's label as the only East Coast state without the games.
Easley,

Ohio Lottery panel rejects new Gov.'s call for smaller prizes
Ohio Lottery Commission officials say a recommendation from Ohio's new Governor that they reduce prizes to give their profits a boost would have the opposite effect.
Lottery officials responded yesterday to a report from Gov. Ted Strickland's transition advisers that said the lottery has an inordinately high percentage of prize payouts.
The advisory panel last month asked lottery commissioners to consider scaling back the 59 percent it returned in prizes, which was higher in 2004 than w

How the Moon Rules Your Life
How the Moon rules your life
At last, scientists claim to have found a link between our satellite and human behaviour - like how it governs the size of your dinner By Roger Dobson
Published: 21 January 2007
For eons, folklore has blamed the Moon for everything from lunacy to bad luck. And, for the last few centuries, scientists have scoffed. Now, according to new research they're not so sure. The Moon may not be made of cheese, but it seems to influence a lot more down on Earth than

Yes, I remember way too well, and even at that time you were telling me how that crap had happened to you previously when you were traveling back forth from NY MI.
Your thing is not only do you try swinging for the fences, you go all out SWINGING TO DAAAMN PLUTO!!! lol
You put $25 on each of those 4 numbers and I get you want that bigass payout, but by spreading out your bets with a lower amount of wagers will only help increase your odds of getting that hit.
Put like $15 on each of

Circle K asks judge to delay expiration date for $12.8 million Arizona Lottery jackpot amid dispute
I cannot help but wonder, considering all of the attention that this is getting from Lottery Post, and *probably* many other state, regional, and national news outlets, that the original customer who came up $20 short (for whatever reason) has figured out that they were the one that originally missed out on all of that money?
It probably happens occasionally, but I do not think that there would be a great number of times that a person places an order for $80-$85 tickets and ends up leaving w
