US House votes to kill Internet gambling
Getting away from ragging on our genious founding fathers, and back to the discussion at hand, here a link to the interesting article Emily mentioned: http://www.nydailynews.com/07-11-2006/business/story/434155p-365775c.html

Granny's dream advice helps man win lottery
I agree, but would making a copy of the front and back of your ticket help? There are specific numbers that identity the ticket and where/when it was purchased. At least it might keep someone else from claiming it. I've never made copies of any of my tickets, but it's just something that popped into my brain when I read this article.

Affirmations, mantras and Hail Marys for the lottery
Regarding affirmations the last Silva newsletter I got had an article which said that it's easier for your mind to deal in pictures of your desired outcome than words, so in addition to repeating words of a mantra, add a little bit of imagery to them for a more successful outcome. Hope everyone achieves what your hearts desire!!

Calif. Mega Millions lottery winner claims prize
Congrats to the winner and his family! I'm surprised they did not give his age in the news article. The fact that he says he's going to continue working... I wonder if it's a family owned business? That would be the only reason I'd stay at a job with a win like that. I'd change jobs rather quickly to one that only involved researching worthwhile charities.

greedy person
I have decieved noone, as I explained previously my brother was on here searching and posting, also you can search the inital newspaper article in reference to this, yes she did scratch the ticket before I paid for it, she was taking the money from the cash register at work and called me to put it back in with my debit card and trust me it was more than $ 20.00 when this is all said and done I think everyone will agree that <snip>

Fla. Fantasy 5 lottery player wins $241,000
When NY Take Five was drawn once or twice a week, a single winner often won more than the amount in this article. It's been drawn seven nights a week for the past 5½ years; the top prize is now $100,000 or less. I've been calling for NY Take Five to be changed to a jackpot game.

Texas Woman Sues Over Winning Lottery Ticket
They are referring to pre-tax dollars. $36 million was the annuity jackpot amount, before taxes. $20.9 million is the pre-tax cash value. The article is accurate.

LP readers, read this online article
Good find, rundown. But I think your sentence should read, Only three Powerball states allow winners to be completely anonymous under ALL circumstances whatsoever (Delaware, North Dakota, and Kansas). The article did not address the situation in Mega Million states nor in states that have state lotteries but are not associated with multi-state lotteries.

Another lottery winner goes broke
This guy's problems aren't the result of the state requiring his identity to be revealed. There was an article about him in Playboy a couple of years ago. IIRC, he found out he had won very shortly after the drawing and began making calls immediately to start telling people. He would never have taken advantage of the chance to remain anonymous. Ultimately, he was a loser before he bought the ticket and he was just a rich loser after he won.
