Minnesota Lottery to offer online 'scratch-off' tickets
As expected, critics are outraged, supporters hopeful Forget that drive to a convenience store for a scratch-off lottery ticket. The Minnesota State Lottery soon will give consumers the same chance at a jackpot from the comfort of home, allowing them to scratch off tickets with a mouse and a cursor, not a coin. Undeterred by earlier criticisms, lottery official are making a bold play to reach the next generation of lottery players by going beyond its current Powerball-like games online

Something seems fishy to me!
I would add, increase the payout for the 4/5! The proportion of chance and payout is really science fiction compared to a fair game. They also might limit the payout for the jackpot to 400 000 000. The money reserve would be recycled for lower prices. We are not in a Roman theater or arena or amphitheatre, last survivor gets money, freedom and glory. Another point is to bring up the tax regulation. Make the winnings free of tax.

$636 Million Mega Millions jackpot split by 2 tickets
No, I'm using the data. You seem to be ignoring it even when you acknowledge it, since you know that a previous run reached $1.5 billion in sales over 19 drawings, whereas this one took 22 drawings to reach only $1 billion. As usual I can't tell much from that stuff you've got jammed together on the graph, but the raw numbers are easy to understand. Here they are, along with comparisons to one another. Other than corrections for the final totals the annuity values are from lottoreport, as are th

MEGA MILLIONS JACKPOT SOARS TO $636 MILLION
Mega Millions buying frenzy sends jackpot to brink of world record Includes video report Updated at 1:03 pm with Maryland sales stats By Todd Northrop Certainly the state lotteries expected the multi-state Mega Millions October rules changes to increase jackpots, but it's fair to say the first jackpot run under the new rules exceeded their wildest expectations. When Mega Millions changed its number matrix and prize structure in October, Texas Lottery executive director Gar

Looking at that 586 million...I think I want the annunity
Yeah, same here. Mediabrat, there are advantages/disadvantages to either option, but as I've said before, in 30 years - IF I make it that far - I might not even remember my name, much less that I've got a huge last check coming. There's also the matter of taxes; we recently had a 4.6% increase in the top bracket and unless things start looking up, I don't see the tax rate doing anything but rising from the current 39.6%. Have a gander at the history of top bracket rates and you *might* cha

With new Mega Millions matrix... how do you choose your numbers?
You can keep your hard earned money in your pocket if you really wanna send 'em a message. But, there's always gonna be the hard core one's that feel that just when they don't run out and get some numbers' they're gonna win. I can understand the faithful one's with dedicated numbers playing, though. The state lotteries only understanding one thing...A DECREASE IN TICKET SALES. Do this, and you'll have their attention and probably even make the news where you can tell why you quit playing. Otherw

$550 MILLION: Mega Millions holiday bonanza!
It's simple probability. I can tell you you're not going to win, and the chance that I'll be wrong is a miniscule fraction of 1%. If somebody wins any time between now and New Year's eve the lottery will happily call it a Christmas miracle, and not many people will argue. If it keeps rolling, even a very conservative estimate would put sales at 200, 250, 300, 350 and 400 million. Being conservative again, that would mean the chance of not having at least one winner would be about 50%, 40%, 30

North Carolina: 12/1 - 12/31/2013
9 does not equal 6 ... 6 and 9 are two separate numbers , and have a separate value and place in the game .... BUT ... if every number you play that has a 6 in it , you also play it with a 9 instead of a 6 and vice versa, you will sometimes get lucky instead of being one off.... but no more often than if you do the same with any other 2 numbers you choose to do that with randomly.... its kind of like a popular thing and long believed myth with 6 and 9 with lottery players I think, just because i

N.C. Lottery rolls out online ticket sales
Some retailers worried As he stood in line for lottery tickets Wednesday at C-Mini Mart #3 on Poole Road, David Auther said store patrons and workers know him by his lucky Pick 3 number. Hey Warren, what's my number? he asked store owner Warren Liles, who stood behind the counter. 315, Liles replied. Auther, who plays the lottery every day, said he won't be logging onto a computer to buy tickets as the N.C. Education Lottery launches an online subscription service Thursday. He enjo
