Former N.C. Lottery commissioner sentenced to 4 years in prison
Former lottery commissioner Kevin Geddings was sentenced to four years in prison today on charges that he hid his financial ties to a company expected to bid for the state's lottery business.
US District Court Judge James Dever the Third imposed a prison term seven months longer than the maximum sentence recommended by court officials. They suggested that Geddings receive up to almost three and a half years in prison.
Dever also fined Geddings $25,000 but says he doesn't have to report t

tax strategy
Creating the partnership or trust after the ticket becomes a winning ticket is a separate issue from ownership of the ticket. If you and I already owned the ticket jointly we would be free to create all manner of legal entities to deal with it. Transferring assets we already own to our own trust is completely different than transferring assets to another individual, regardless of whether or not that individual puts the money in their pocket or their trust.
Based on what you've said so far I'm

fortune cookie numbers
I guess you could say the Lottery got a little nervous thinking someone was onto something and figured out how to crack the lotto!
I've always been a bit puzzled by their response to the fortune cookie incident. Several of the news stories said that MUSL officials initially thought it might be a case of fraud or a computer glitch. That suggests that the mere idea that 110 people would play the same 5 numbers was a new concept to them. That 110 people matched 5+0 and only 1 person match

I won 2,000,000.00 Euros
Thanx dude...I know you're only trying to help....
I'm 42 years old and I've seen a lot of scams before anyone knew what a computer was. Been there...
I've dealt with all kinds of craziness you could think of. Crazy friends growing up, Kooky outlooks on life, fanciful horizons, Friends trying to con you...That experience builds a foundation for a belief system.
Fortunately for me, Bank of America insures their customers, with fraud protection.
Ain't Scared!...LOL

Ontario Lottery to undergo criminal investigation
The Ontario government called police yesterday after the province's ombud accused unscrupulous lottery-ticket retailers of collecting tens of millions of dollars in dishonest'' winnings and the responsible Crown agency of letting them get away with it.
Public Infrastructure Minister David Caplan asked police to look into Andre Marin's report probing a disproportionate number of jackpot wins by so-called lottery insiders a report that amounted to a searing indictment of the Ontario Lotter

Number of lottery scams soars
1. They need a movie called Jackass 3 starring anybody who still falls for this after all we've heard about it.
2. There should be an address to forward mail to, any such letters you receive so that authorities can trace it to the people sending them. Or, a fraud drop box at the Post Office to drop in anything you get that you are concerned about.
3. Anyone running such a scam should be given triple life without parole.
4. For fun try goofing on them, if you get one send them some M

***The next day, Grair allegedly tried to cash Sehested's ticket at the Lottery Commission's office in Van Nuys, but couldn't answer all the standard questions asked of winners of six-figure prizes including where and when he bought the ticket and whether the winning numbers were personally selected or quick picks.
Before Grair returned to the office for a second interview, lottery agent Jim Dumelle had reviewed a surveillance video from the liquor

Lottery-check scams get more seductive, ingenious
By Paul Wenske
Kansas City Star
Those lousy lottery-check scams are mutating again and ensnaring more unsuspecting consumers.
But first, folks, you just shouldn't fall for these goofy scams. No honest lottery in the world gives out free money.
That said, the scams are increasing. And they offer sneaky new twists to create a false sense of security. More scams are using counterfeit checks drawn on legitimate bank accounts of real businesses.

Store Managers playing sscratch offs
I agree with many of the above comments. I was only saying that if someone suspects fraud at a store and has some evidence, I see no harm in reporting it to the Lottery Commission. Like tntea I might want to take a chance and buy from a roll that hasn't hit if I worked behind a counter and if I played scratch tickets. One time I was at Publix and they had a great sale on their fudge, creamcheese brownies. When the cashier scanned my purchase she asked if there were many left. I said I only saw
