Bronx mystery winner claimed half of $333M lottery jackpot
Just because they're ignorant doesn't mean they aren't also an idiot.
Even if NY allowed a winner to remain anonymous, that wouldn't prevent them from releasing other information, so anonymity isn't a reason for the spokeperson to say they can't release any other information. My guess would be that the winner is being allowed some time to get things in order before the rest of the information is released.

Identity Withheld Identity Revealed
Exactly... According to news reports the winner from NY came forward and was allowed to claim the prize anonymously. However, I was unable to locate a press release on the NYS lottery website confirming this. Are the news reports wrong?
However, if I lived in the neighborhood where the ticket was bought I'd really want to remain anonymous too. It's not the safest neighborhood and I'd be concerned about the safety of my family and friends that live around there.

Lottery winner picks up check, then gets arrested
I wonder how many people who play big games actually think about the consequences of winning in terms of loss of privacy. Of course, they might realize their name and picture might be plastered and they might have to deal with the public, but in reality, a name is all it takes. Once a winner makes the claim, of course the press is going to dig to see what they can find to make the story more interesting. All those matters of public record - business licenses, property tax/ownership, bankruptcy,

Pretend one or both of the sitiuations is happening to you
To go back to diamondpalace's original question. I don't release anything I would have a problem with other people using.
As long as they at least ask first, say thanks, or give me attaboy in the credits , I don't get out-of-sorts seeing my work re-used.

Brief Update - site update coming soon
@chasingadream, @TigerAngel, @Halle99: Thanks!
@TigerAngel:
No need to switch -- you can do that whenever you're ready. It's really just work I need to do on my end, to be sure that the site works fine in both IE7 and IE8.
One important thing to note is that I'm going to have to drop IE6 compatibility testing sometime this year, as trying to keep the site compatible with that ancient browser is going to be too difficult. Keeping it compatible and tested with two versions of IE is r
