$90 Million: California lottery jackpot raised again
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on June 27, 2006Being able to generate state lottery jackpots that size, one has to wonder why California joined the multi-state game MegaMillions. MegaMillions sales are probably going to be down until its state lottery jackpot is won. The SLP may have generated a jackpot this size, but it took twenty-one consecutive draws with no winner to get here. Mega Millions needs only six draws with no winner to get this high.

Multi-state games
Mega Millions winners in California get pari-mutuel prizes. MM players in Texas have the Megaplier, which multiplies all prizes except the jackpot. At least two MM states require the cash/annuity choice when you play. Even worse is the new Lose for Life online game. VA winners have a cash option (which is equal to only 10 years of quarterly payments.) GA doesn't even have a cash option, and the same probably can be said of KY.

Next Hot Lotto state
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on May 13, 2006I voted OK since it's a new lottery, and it obviously will add more online games. NC is in much the same position (no online games yet) but there's a chance it will go for Lose for Life instead. I seriously doubt NC will go for either Win For Life or Hot Lotto. They'll be too busy focusing on their in-state games like Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5. What's more, if they ever do consider adding a second multi-state game, IMHO, both of those game

Lottery winners question Calif. Mega Millions prizes
What misleading information? The California lottery website says that all prizes are paid on a parimutuel basis, the websites for the other MM states tell you exactly how much you'll get for any given prize level, and the rules stay the same every week. It doesn't take much more effort to find out that only the jackpot is a multi-state game, and that all of the lower prizes are handled strictly within the individual states. Not getting $265 million when that's what was advertised is misleading.

MM at 265M !!

I'm thinking the record will happen this time, because I think it's all part of a conspiracy lol. One multi-state game does not set a record but comes close, then the other one does, or vice versa. Since Powerball was well on its way but didn't make it, this Mega Millions run will.

MUSL and how they conduct their draws
I totally agree about the trust issue when it comes to computerized drawings. I probably shouldn't be commenting since I'm currently not participating in the multi-state games, but my opinion is that eventually every game will be computerized, despite the protests of the players. In fact, I think everything we do in life will be controlled by a computer. After going through the self checkout at Walmart I think I belong in a world where life if simpler! The guy after me must have thought I was on
