I think I got ripped off
Does anyone know if the we have to enter the amount won is true? No. This is garbage. If you scratch off ALL of the foil on a ticket, you will find a string of numbers/letters (or sometimes a second bar code) away from the main play area. This code is what the machine scans and TELLS the clerk how much to pay. Scratch the ticket off COMPLETELY before you go in to cash it. Copying it is up to you. Get a receipt.

Victim of stolen Texas lottery ticket says he knows how to get money back
Captain Lotto is right - there are good reasons why the procedures are set up the way they are. The Lottery will never win getting in the middle of who gave the ticket to who, who really owns it , etc. Their job is to validate the ticket that is presented to make sure that it is indeed the winning ticket and then to pay the prize promptly. C'mon kids, we have to take a little responsibility for ourselves. You have to have the ticket (in almost all cases - not a copy). You have to sign it

Arkansas woman tries to cash in fake lottery ticket, arrested
1. They used to do that at Bingo (cut and paste) which is why now they just use the serial # in the free space to check against a database when someone wins. The only problem being you don't have time to take a sip of coffee before the next game starts. 2. Maybe the ticket came out like that from the machine? Like the Blue Moon ticket in NY? 3. Someday she can take boxing lessons from Elicia Battle. 4. What happens though, like another case in NY, the ticket is misprinted so it looks li

Do Quick Picks win more jackpots?
ca-dreamin* I see it as quite the opposite. when someone hits a jackpot on a QP, which is the most common, not only did they ask for the ticket the exact nano-second the loto machine spits out that set of numbers, but then those numbers are drawn. Or take the case of the guy in Indiana who played his own numbers, his five kids' birthday years, for 20 years. One day he went to play his ticket, had forgottne his glasses, and played 48 instead of 46, and won $3,000,000. That smacks of righ

Do Quick Picks win more jackpots?
Sorry Dollar419 I don't buy your theory of having to be at the right place at the right time. If I select my numbers I'll say for MM since we can both play that game......it doesn't matter if I buy my ticket today, tommorrow, Monday night or Tues. an hour before the drawing....the numbers I choose will still be the same and either they hit or they don't. I don't believe if my numbers hit it was because I bought them at 1:00pm Sunday at 7/11 instead of Tuesday at 5:00pm at the gas station on m

Dateline Sunday Show
Out of curiosity....how exactly does the system prevent clerks from stealing from legitimate winners? I know most stores have cameras to indentify actual purchasers at the point-of-sale. I also know there are undercover investigators who go to the stores and test the clerk to see if the correct winnings/notice are delivered to the customer. However, lets see a unsuspecting customers arrives to the store with a stack of tickets. They aren't aware of the actual winning numbers from the drawi

Sting nabs Minnesota lottery clerks stealing winning tickets
Investigations will expand after lottery ticket agents attempt to redeem undercover agents' winning tickets Five Twin Cities convenience store employees and three accomplices are facing lottery fraud charges after they were caught by undercover investigators allegedly trying to cash in winning lottery tickets for themselves. The fraud was discovered after the Minnesota State Lottery's security office and the state's Alcohol Gambling Enforcement Division set up a sting operation to test whe

Lottery retailers busted in raid
I recently bought a scratch-off in PA and thought I won $500. I went to two stores to have them check but because the people were either idiots or the machine to check the ticket was out of my eyesight, I took my ticket back and left. I actually had to go to the PA lottery website to see if I had won because the directions were unclear. It said if there were two $ , then I won that amount. Well, I did have two $'s, but with an amount written between them (like $40$ ). On the website, I saw th

North Carolina: 11/1 - 11/30/2008
I would like to respond to this one, here's the reason for the pre draws. The predraws is done to have a selection of numbers to choose from for the drawings, to be honest do you really think the drawing are live, they shoot live feeds for every drawing, when the lottery machines shuts off at night, they compile the list of numbers choose the lowest value payout from there predraw selection. Then they show that feed for your live drawing at night. Simple and easy to make everyone think the game

New Game Generated More Than 600 Winning Tickets Debra and Raul Bennett are faithful lottery players, though in nearly 15 years of playing they never had won much more than pocket money. So on Sunday, when the retired Hampton, Va., couple realized they had a winning ticket from the Virginia Lottery's brand-new Fast Play Super 7s game, they were ecstatic. Plans for spending the $7,777 the game's top prize came fast and furious. But when the Bennetts went to the Hampton Virginia Lottery o
