Should the new Congress set-up a US National Lottery?
honestly the odds are so bad on the mega millions that I really don't see a good reason for an even larger national lottery. I would be so glad if the state lotteries would just simply increase their payout ratios from 50% to about 60 to 80 percent. Email your representatives regularly, though. They really should hear their people. If they could, for example, raise the Pick3 prize from $500 to $750 , and so on, etc. I would be so glad. Some online lotteries already do it for as much a

It's getting hard to stay enthusiastic...
one thing i always tell people who are in a group playing the same numbers one way to increase the odds is at least make sure all the tickets you have whether you are playing mega millions or powerball is to make sure you have the mega ball or the power ball covered. when you just get quick picks the majority of the time the mega and power balls are duplicated and you are reducing your chance to at least hit the mega or power ball. in a pool you are buying enough tickets to cover each numb

Collecting Big Winnings
How would you feel about being locked into that 0% rate for 20 to 30 years? The rate on T-bills only got that low because 1. they're extremely safe, 2. they're only for 4 weeks, and even a 5% rate is only 0.4% over 4 weeks. Selling stocks that are sliding and simply preserving your money's value for a month or two isn't a bad idea if you think the alternative is likely to be worse. Selling 1000 shares for $100,000 and buying 1111 shares for $99,990 a month or two later will make you a nice 11

Do you still feel the same about Cash Option or Annuity??
I'm asking in the current economic enviroment is your opinion of Cash Vs. Annuity still the same? I ask this because of the fluctuating stock market and states like California asking for Bailouts. My thoughts are I wouldn't trust the state to control my money and dole it out to me. As a voluntary tax I doubt many tax payers would agree to send Millions of Dollars to a state lottery agency for their debt obligations. So While you probably would get your money eventually if worse came to

Texas Lottery confirms that Quick Picks are not generated by "central computer"
I once knew a guy who had worked at Publisher's Clearing House, and he was sure you couldn't win if you didn't order a magazne, because the first thing they do when entries come in is sort them into order and no-order piles. Um, sparky, do you suppose that would make it easier to process the orders? If your friend isn't thoroughly famliar with the RNG code, what he knows is meaningless. Even if he's familiar with the code, what he thinks may not make any sense. Still, for the sake of the a

Tenn. Lottery CEO blames lagging sales on Powerball
The lottery board is a farce. I don't know how you get appointed to serve on the board, but one of the qualifications is that you must be willing to play ball . They're supposed to oversee the lottery, but its more like they're in cahoots with them instead. The board approved (for the first time in the lottery's existence) a change in how the bonuses were paid this year...why? So they'd have a better shot at earning it in the face of declining sales, it's now determined on less cut-and-dried met
