Maryland Mega Millions winners claim prize anonymously
Strange how an almost $700 million jackpot is reduced to $35 million with multiple winners. Makes it a lot harder to track down all the alleged anonymous winners, which is exactly what the lottery wants. They look like idiots hiding behind that check. Probably lottery officials that is why. Unless I see proof I don't believe there were any real winners. Anyone who spent money should feel ripped off.

If they were to suddenly quit it wouldn't be very hard to figure out why.It would be impossible to remain anonymous under the circumstances.Besides that, teachers are under contract for the entire school year.

Congrats to the teachers and their respective families. I truly hope their lives are comfortably lived and all their travel plans are enjoyed. Pretty smart to remain anonymous, although there is enough information in the above to have more inquiries by various persons............................ Thanks for the great story Todd.....

Maryland Mega Millions winner already in pool dispute
My local news is reporting that a conference will be held tomorrow morning regarding a Maryland winner that has come forward. No info on whether the winner is anonymous or not. Oddly enough, the newstory made no mention of the pool controversy.

Jill..........It would be nice if they afforded us folks down here that opportunity to remain anonymous when collecting. I have heard enough issues arise from the winning drama collectors to cure me of ever saying anything public. Silence is truly golden !!!

The fact that the media keeps running with a story about the woman who works for McDonalds and is obviously lying does make me a little suspicious about two winners who are allowed to stay anonymous. Looks like some sort of mis-direction going on.

You missed the point and obviously did not read any of the posts. What is not fair is having some states that allow you to be anonymous and others that don't. This is stupid and not a level playing field. When I win I don't care who knows, but I am not exactly going to advertise it either. But give me the same option any other state.

Depends.
If you have a brand spankin' new Aston Martin sitting in your driveway a week after you win, then going anonymous would be pointless.
For a winner that invests the bulk of his money and continues on with normal day to day activities and does not go too far beyond his old means, it's definitely possible to remain anonymous even in a small Mid-Western town. That does not mean someone would have to remain stuck in a double-wide trailer home and not enjoy their money. Having that kind

so you advocate remaining anonymous and not sharing it at all. as soon as you share any of it people will find out. they couldn't keep quiet about it. what does the winner do, say i'll give you 50k but you can't tell anyone that i won. you can't have it both ways. either you do what this kansas greed ball did or you disclose and share. what would you do.

I live inSouth Carolinaand we have that option. Once upon a time long ago I was blessed to claim a prize over $500 and they asked if I wanted my picture taken to be put on the website but thankfully I had already read the claim form and told them NO that I wanted to remain anonymous.
I have the problem of so many people of not being able to say NO to family...and it has led me into some serious debt that I have yet to get out of. Common Sense is a wonderful thing...and remaining an
