One of the most recent articles I read about the winner is that he is married and has a couple kids (based on the article). Spent $40 on tickets and coincidently, it was his first time playing LOL. They play to invest 99% of it and use the rest on like a vacation or sports car. He is a self-employed businessman and will continue working (for now LOL). Ok, I remembered seeing that one posted in one of the threads, but I didn't remember who posted it. Thanks for doing so! Even though the Jackpot! article is about 10 years old, most of the information is still valid and useful.Do we have a thread here on Lottery Post that contains the links to all of these types of articles? If not, perhaps it would be a good idea to compile this information into one thread.

You'll have to check the laws. On Todds site, Maryland has a tax on out of state winners. I would imagine, unless you're awfully lucky, state tax is always applicable to your residence. There was a winner from Nj who won PB in PA, a few months ago. The article stated they paid no gambling tax in either state. I buy tickets in NY and just assume they will get their share. They always do!

I think I read an article somewhere that said many of those individuals who had their whole house remade now had to pay higher property taxes! I don't know who did the math for the article, but in Illinois I figure the cash jackpot at 51% or $127,000,000. Then when I subtract out federal (35%) and state taxes (3%) or a total of 38%, I end up with $79,050,000 in hand. That won't buy 120 million liters of Coke at a local grocer here.
