Should PB MM be tax-free/lump sum
Based upon what you are saying then, more taxes would be better for the economy. It would move more moeny around. I see where John Edwards wants to increase the Captial Gains tax by nearly double. That should really help the economy then. Lots of money changing hands. Of course, he is totally ignoring that history tells otherwise. Like the last time this was tried, the tax revenues fell by about 40%. That's because taxes are a punitive endeavor. They discourage people from staying within t

OMG It's horrible.
JADELOttery wrote Here's a table of the probability that a number will occur in a given column. Highlighted are the 2 most recent draw for TN's 5 of 39, 2007-07-27 FRI and 2007-07-30 MON. Another interesting math table. I do find myself drawn to them. However, I also fiind that while they are logical, they are only somewhat helpful. Like in our 6/39 Supercash game, the 39 will, naturally, only be able to appear in the sixth column. But since the numbers themselves are supposed to be

Raffle rules applied to a jackpot game
Actually I as thinking kind of a combination of both a regualr jackpot game- people playing their numbers and QPs - but there's no drawing until all combinations are sold so there would have to be a winner. (I'm also thinking we're entertaining our lottery commission lurkers, too). It would beat expanding the matrix again, wouldn't it? It doesn't look like the lotteries are doing anything to keep the ticket price the same and increase the jackpots. And for the $1 player this woul

Please Advise!
Hey guys, I've been seriously playing the California Fantasy Five using the Gail Howard pick five wheel software and the Advangtage plus. Here's my problem I have'nt been able to get more than two winning numbers into my wheel of about 22-26 sometimes vary in a win 3 if five. I use the charts and sometimes the smart pick but I can't get more than two winning numbers out of 22 numbers. There's only 39 in the whole game so that leave about 17 numbers left. So I'm playing more than half of the n

How Long Will It Be Until We Have A Lotto Billionaire ?
The MM people were definitely caught off guard unless they were being very cautious about advertising ajackpot that was too high. When the previous jackpot rolled they initially advertised the next jackpot as $340 million. On Monday they bumped it to 355 and they bumped it again, to 370, about 24 hours later. After the two bumps increased it by $30 million, the final accounting added another $20 million for an increase of $115 million over the previous jackpot. That was just over a 40% jump

can someone please tell me how to run a lottery pool?
Your best chance would be quick picks Quick picks offer exactly the same chance as any other combination, but you have no chance to steer clear of types of combinations you'd rather not play. My feeling is that pools should select their own numbers and the rules should spell out what numbers will be played. When the rules include the combinations that are intended to be played there's no chance that somebody can then claim the winning ticket was purchased as their own rather than for t

Can IRS make you pay taxes if you give lottery tickets as gifts?
Oh, that's a scary thought! I bet since the ticket was only worth $1 or so at the time the gift was made, you wouldn't owe a gift tax. It increased in value between the time you gave it and the time of the drawing so the increase in value would be the recipients responsibility to pay taxes on. However, what if you knew a ticket was a winner and gave it away AFTER the value had already increased. Say you were playing different combos of the same powerball numbers, so you had 3 or 4 that mat

kentucky and computerized draws
I agree with the business fact of the lottery needing to find ways to make money, but if you don't increase the payouts you will lose players. Kentucky had a game a long time ago called The Pick it was phased out and when I asked a lottery rep. she couldn't tell me why. I believe it was because too many people were winning on it. My personal opinion is that the reason online gambling has done so well is ....... 1. higher payouts 2. play just about any state and other countries

High gas prices and lottery spending.
Not cutting on the lottery, no. Cutting elsewhere. Like not buying food and snacks at the convenience store. Much cheaper to make a lunch at home, take it with. You'd be surprised how much money we al waste on buying junk that we end up either using up real fast, or wolfing down when we really weren't even hungry. I'm just buying what I need now, not what I want . Seems like we're stuck for a loooong period with the gas thing. We'll never see 2 bucks a gallon again, but we could see
