how would YOU change the payouts?
Why change the payouts?
Lotteries started about 20 or 30 years ago with the same payouts as they have today in the pick 3 and 4.
What did one dollar buy back then?
What was a weekly income back then?
What did 500.00 buy 30 years ago.
If you have an increase in weekly income with any job compared to 30 years ago Play $2.00 on a number to get back $1,000.00

Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
People are not getting desensitized to large pots. I contend a threshold has been met and whether the pot is $100, $200, or even $300 million the WOW factor is extremely high for most people. However, people are paying more attention to the deminishing chance of winning anything. Raising the odds has a negative psychological effect on the buyer which cannot be overcome by a slightly higher jackpot amount. This is excerbated by the fact that with higher odds people wait longer to get into the

Nationwide, lotteries struggle to stay competitive
Lotteries across the country are struggling to remain competitive, retaining their players while increasing their bottom lines. Last year, 25 U.S. lotteries reported increased sales, but New York's lottery was one of six that had higher profits.
One key to New York's success is that the New York Lottery continues to attempt to be fun and entertaining, said former Lottery Director Nancy Palumbo, who was interviewed before leaving the division late last year.
We're constantly challenged to

Weekly Pick 3 (Jan 21 thru Jan 27)
You're welcome.
Just a note about Missouri here. I know it's a RNG state, but it happens to
be the best hitting state for me, strangely enough.
Good Luck, you guys and gals.
If you want to increase your hit count from these picks, then just mirror the first digits, then the second digits and finally the third digits for a total of 40 picks.

Rate My "throwing everything at it" strategy
thanks ....yea you can't buy luck, ....but you can certainly increase your chances :)
alternatively I was thinking of something like this
in stead of buying tickets 5 or 10 dollar tickets every wed/thursday
why not just wait until the powerball / megamillions is really big like
over 100 million and use the collective funds from all the times you didn't buy
when it was small and just buy once for that one drawing !

Mass. Lottery bets it can draw richer players
The term that needs to be defined is the description of the customers the lottery is trying to attract, wealthy/upper income. Now we all have an opinion on what constitutes a high income/wealthy person. My guess is that the lottery is looking to increase play in those individuals with a household income of over $100,000.
There are a large number of people in this income bracket that don't spend their time playing baccarat and high stakes poker. They are just trying to make ends meet, lik

New Tenn. congressman wants national lottery
This guy has been using 'fuzzy' math, smoke and mirrors, etc, for too long!
Would be interesting to know what game he has in mind. I don't know of a current game that would be attractive to players. Can you imagine a jackpot being divided into couple of hundred parts!!!
On the other hand - folks in Canada have been playing a 6/49 lottery for a long time. The jackpots are won frequently, and multiple winners doesn't seem to be a deterrent. An increase to $2 per ticket didn't have the nega

A Tutorial in Progressive Wagering
CT
Yes...that is true. In the case of a 50/50 chance, you would be in a position to have to play the Martingale progression as you pointed...the doubling up of your bet after a loss. I would NEVER advocate such a strategy. That is the fastest way to ruin imaginable. In the lottery, you aren't playing a 50/50 chance, so your bets increasing would be much flatter than the ultra-steep Martingale.
For instance, I use a technique in blackjack called Oscar's Grind. It involves a scenario whereby

A Tutorial in Progressive Wagering
Thanks.
Human nature is a funny thing - the person so willing to play the double up and catch up method will turn right around and not increase their bets on a winning streak.
When they should be letting the 1-2-4-8-16 etc work to their advantage, they'll reach a point - usually early on and stick with the 'flat bets' mentioned in the OP - when they should be winning hundreds or thousands, they're winning $5 and $10 at a whack.
Of course, with lottery and lottery payoffs, it's dif
