Is the Lottery (PB/MM) corrupt?
When I think of corruption in state lotteries, I cite MA and NY as the prime examples, with their annuity-only (no cash option) scratch games. MA Megabucks' jackpot also is annuity-only.

Penn. Lottery declares 1st raffle a success
If that is the case, Hoosier Lotto has the lowest cash value v annuity of any US lottery. Colorado Lotto used to pay cash option winners 40% of the annuity (it's now 50%).

Probability of a Rollover in Powerball.
The powerball jackpot has rolled. The cash value is now $66.6M; the annuity value is $135M. Powerball is therefore expecting 21.3M in sales. If this is correct, the probabilities for various numbers of winners are given in the following table: 086.43%112.60%20.92%30.04% A crude estimate suggests that there is a 4% chance of exceeding the record $340M annuity jackpot and a 12% of matching it.

Ohio LOP going nowhere
Mega Millions and LOP each pay the annuity in 26 equal annual installments. However the LOP cash option is fixed at 50% of the annuity, while MM has a _higher_ floating percentage, which means a LOP cash option winner (if there ever will be one) will get stiffed.

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
The MM jackpot has been one and reset. It is reasonable to assume that the number of tickets sold for the new jackpot will be around $15M. Thus the probability of various numbers of winners is given in the following table:091.82%17.84%20.33%30.01%There is, according to my model equation for jackpot growth, about a 48% of the jackpot reaching the neighborhood of 90M annuity value. There is a 6-7% chance of matching the last large ($315M annuity) jackpot and a less than 4% chance of exceeding i

$36m MO PB 60-day limit nearing
On November 2, a ticket from Missouri hit Powerball for $36 million annuity. AFAIK the winner(s) have not come forward. While they have a year to claim the prize, in the next few days they will lose the opportunity to choose the cash value and be forced to receive annuity payments if they do not come forward.

MM annuity equivalent in PB: $93M.
Maybe MegaMillions should advertise their jackpot same as some discount stores advertise their merchandise with a comparable price. MegaMillions jackpot = $75M Annuity - $45 Cash - Compare to PB $93M jackpot.might not work for PowerBallPowerBall jackpot = $75M Annuity - $37M Cash - Compare to MM $66M jackpot.

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
I estimate that there is a 12% (mathematic model) to 13% (based on sales of last run) of the MM jackpot approximately matching the $315 annuity jackpot. I estimate that there is 7% chance (both models) of exceeding it. There is a 52%-54% chance that the jackpot will grow to be near $130M annuity.Happy Holidays.

What happened to the 'Blue Game'?
From what I know about it, the only thing I have a concern about is the second prize ($1 million annuity with cash option)-would the cash value be fixed at 500k, or would it be a floating percentage of the annuity?

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
It may be time to touch on long term probabilities. From the equation I generated earlier in this thread to describe the behavior of lottery jackpots, one can estimate the probability of rollovers. If this equation is predictive, I estimate that the run has a 52% probability of reaching a jackpot in the 100-110M annuity range. It has roughly an 8% chance of reaching the $315M annuity jackpot it reached in November of this year, and a 5% chance of exceeding it.
