Woman wants part of estranged husband's lotto jackpot
Really James ? REALLY ?.....There you have it folks !!! I can understand the remaining anonymous aspect if its allowed under Indiana law , but not having the common sense to tell your (still married) spouse. Anyone with the IQ of a handball would know they have to share equally with their on again off again legally married partner. One word describes his actions, GORMLESS

After a major multistate jackpot is hit...
All states should give lottery winners the option to remain anonymous, perhaps even allowing them to conduct conferences with their face and voice digitally altered to protect their identity. This is especially relevant in light of past lottery winners that have ended up murdered for their money.

Irish $16M lottery winner still claiming over $6,000 a year in benefits
He may be entitled to the benefits, but the moral of this story is, discretion is the better part of valour. He should have the common sense not to go public, as he had the choice to remain anonymous.

Irish $16M lottery winner still claiming over $6,000 a year in benefits
He should have had the good sense not to go public about his win. The UK allows lottery winners to remain anonymous and the vast majority do.

what we have here is a classic example of why you should always take the anonymous option if it is presented. no one would know who the ald fart is, or care, if only he kept his toothless old mouth shut to start.

How to let LP know if you won the big one . . .
I'm having the JP claimed in trust so I can remain anonymous. I would probably tell the LP people. I believe that people here would appreciate knowing that it is possible to win and knowing someone that one might keep the hope alive for some. Plus, I live in the middle of 60 acres and I have 5 dogs, 2 rilfes, several handguns and a shovel.

$250 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot ramps up
Venom's a moron. I highly doubt in the history of lottery play there's a winner who regretted staying anonymous. The flip side of that is strewn with people who were leached upon and had lives disrupted, if not ruined.

Lawyer gives up $14 million Iowa lottery ticket claim
What's even more interesting is a report this evening about how the trust had been established AFTER the lottery drawing had taken place, meaning this investment trust was more than likely established for the sole purpose of shielding the lottery proceeds, meaning it wasn't established earlier by someone rich as a general investment trust the lottery win just happened to be something they'd add to an already large pot of cash.
We've had many discussions about creating a trust so the winner

Representative of Hot Lotto winner named in lawsuit
It's only a public record if the law says it is, and in states that allow anonymity that information isn't a public record. I believe there have been cases where the lottery didn't publicize the name of a winner, but since there wasn't a specific allowance to remain anonymous the information was released due to a lawful request.

Representative of Hot Lotto winner named in lawsuit
A poster here named justxploring once joked that something like this would happen and the winner would have to go to court to prove they have a right to remain anonymous- and win the case but become famous for doing so!
