PA Millionaire Raffle- St. Patrick's Day Edition
Interesting indeed. Last couple of years, the bulletin has been published by early April. However, sometimes PA Lottery has waited until just before raffle start. Assuming the raffle starts 3rd week of April, expect to see a bulletin posted next week or the following. If nothing by April 22nd, odds are the raffle is on hiatus indefinitely. Another observation, though not directly related, the PA Lottery News section no longer mentions when Pick-3 triples are drawn. Doubt many people noticed,

Ty kreative!! I saw that app too...it's awesome! The terminals are in the store, the app is in the car or where ever you are...no walking in! This technology lifestyle reminds me of something though...if anyone has seen the movie WALL- E, you'll know what I mean when everything is done for you or comes to you instead of you going to it.....you gain about 300 pounds and just float around on motorized chaise lounges. I do love the app idea though..I don't see a 300 pound increa

State of the day challenge
This is supposed to be hard, most people don't play 50 numbers in real life for midday and evening drawings, not much profit unless you hit straight. Hopefully, this challenge will help players rethink their strategy, spend less and win more. My personal goal is to be able to reduce my picks for Michigan to gain more profit, to get better at putting the numbers together and learn from my mistakes. After watching the players on this thread, and I see many of us dancing around the winning

Has anyone noticed the change?
Actually, both the PB and Lotto Texas calculations are the same, procedure-wise. (The details like rates of return probably differ, of course.) From the Lotto Texas procedures: The interest factor is calculated by dividing the advertised jackpot by the estimated cost, including the initial payment required, to fund an investment stream that would yield the total advertised jackpot over a 30-year period . The estimated cost is based on investment information from appropriate financial institut

To strategize or not to strategize? That is the question
Forgive me for not getting this at all. If in a lottery with say 1 : 100.000.000 odds you narrow down a field of number so that by now it contains 50 possible different combinations. The odds of a win in that field are now 50 : 100.000.000 regardless of the shape and position of that field on the slip. And when you narrow it down to just one combination the odds have further reduced and stopped at precisely 1 : 100.000.000 regardless of where you started narrowing down your field and in what way

How soon till the next $ Billion $ Jackpot?
its not likely to get to $1.5B anytime soon. In some ways it's probably even worse than you thought. As of now we've had another roll, so it's more likely to reach each future point, but only by a small amount. The chance of a rollover was about 93.5%, but since it happened it's now 100%. That means that the chance of rolling to each subsequent point is 1/.935, or about 1.07 times more likely. The chance of rolling past $528 million has increased from 10.5% all the way to 11.2%. Woohoo! The

RL's T-Lex program download, free software
Adam I only play the lexie on my 5-39, sometimes the wife plays the 6-44. Lately I have been playing the P-4 off and on but think I will give that up unless I can figure out how to increase my wins. I did take a couple stabs at the big PB jackpot but used the s/c chart for that. I am also having serious thoughts about quitting the lottery altogether. Just don't enjoy playing anymore. RL

Lottery Discussion Forum and Moved Posts
Moving posts from the general Lottery Discussion forum to other forums, such as Jackpot Games, stifles discussion, since many readers view the main forum only. It's understandable the desire to organize the forums, but comes with a trade-off in less visibility and reduced dialogue. Consider relaxing the criteria for moving posts out of the Lottery Discussion forum. Another option is allowing cross-posting (back in the day, newsgroups had this feature), but I've never seen any web based forum

Lower Tax Burden for Winners?
Not going to argue whether a tax is a fine but the Pease Amendment uses the lesser of 3% of the amount your income is over the Pease limit or 80% of your charitable contribution. The 80% rule only comes into play if your charitable contributions are roughly less than 3.75% of your adjusted gross income. If you have an AGI of $100M and donate more than $3.75M then the 80% rule doesn't apply and you essentially only lose the deduction on that first $3.75M, every dollar of every contribution
