Tennessee $1 Million Lottery Winner Will "Stay The Same"
Oh, oh - the infamous cardboard check. Flashes of annuity. What is a million annuity, after tax, worth each year, in Tennessee?I would bet the house, she wouldn't get anywhere near the Clinton's; unless she had a huge Cashiers Check in her hand during the request. From what I hear, Bill Clinton installed a pay toliet in his house; it pays him to enter!

ever trust a Civil Servant to manage your money, the State debt should be an indication of their experience. The lottery corp's annuity is an unmanaged account. It's automatically invested in government bonds. The equivalent in the private sector is a guaranteed fixed rate annuity.

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
The Megamillions has rolled over again, and the cash value has risen. Based on sales, the cash value reached $64.9M and is expected to rise to $76.5M, the annuity value from $108M to $128M. This means that the lottery expects to sell about $29.3M tickets. From these values I estimate the probability of various numbers of winners as follows: 081.24%116.88%21.75%30.12%40.01%I would estimate that the probability of matching the $250M annuity jackpot that ended the last run would be near 44% and

OH Lot O' Play a failure?
I just went to the Ohio Lottery website and noticed that the payout for the second LO'P was lower than the first, with a sharp drop for the third draw, despite being a jackpot game. The cash value of the LO'P annuity is exactly 50%. The annuity for Mega Millions is also 26 annual payments. It looks like Ohio players know they are getting a bum deal with the new game.

Can U dig $128m next TU ? MM ROLLED OVER
Just curious why you think taking the annuity is better than the lump sum. Based on the annuity year by year payoff on the Powerball $340 million, you wouldn't match the total of the lump sum until about the 19th year. For an old man like me, I don't know I am going to live that long anyway and besides, screw my descendants! ;-)

Powerball lottery madness spreads to big media
No, the amount of time it takes to pay has no bearing on if it is a record or not.Incidently, it takes 29 years to pay the annuity now, and it took 29 years to pay an annuity when Jackie boy won the $314.9 million jackpot in Dec. 2002 (the previous record), so your point is...?

Powerball lottery madness spreads to big media
It is the record jackpot under the new 30 year balloon annuity. That's all that can be said. Of course it is real , but the difficulty is comparing it to the 2002 jackpot because of the change in the annuity length and structure. If they say $164 million invested for 30 years makes more than $170 million invested for 25 years, okay, I'm sure it does, just as I'm sure investing any amount for 5 additional years makes more money. The only constant I can compare between the 2 jackpots is the cash

Powerball lottery madness spreads to big media
The biggest scam annuity was Pepsi billions. That was the most inflated annuity I've ever seen although it never happened. I would have to agree what counts is the cold hard cash you can get at once.

would you take cash or payments on the PB
This guy took the annuity. The annuity terminates right when he's expected to retire, when he probably starts collecting his government pension.http://www.powerball.com/hotlotto/winners/2005/092105ia.shtml

Powerball Lottery Jackpot Grows to New Record of $340 Million
The cap should not be in effect until the next drawing (if it rolls one more time). If you calculate the annuity jackpot with the same cash to annuity ratio they had before Powerball changed this year, the jackpot is only a $300 million jackpot. $15 million less than what Jack won. By saying its a record powerball jackpot they are basically false advertising (atleast in my book).
