$636 Million Mega Millions jackpot split by 2 tickets
When the matrix changed, the advertised jackpot was $55 million. That in itself skews the sales results.
If you compare the closest amount from the record run ($51 million) and start from there, sales then are still greater than the recent run. Even the average sales increase per draw is greater (~38% vs. 24.6%) and the slope is less than half.
Year Run Draws Total Sales Average Sales
2012 $51M - $640M 14 $1,394,213,421 $99,586,673
2013 $55M - $636M 17 $988,757,966 $58,162,233

Could this apply to Pick 3 vs jackpot games?
someone wins $500 when 1000 chances are sold and someone wins $500M when one billion chances are sold.
Actually, more people win on the 1000 deal than the one billion deal and it's much, much, much, much, much, much......easier to be (1) of the winners of the $500 than THE WINNER of $500M. Sure, more people lose on Pick3 than actually win and it isn't hard to understand why. If every single person in Texas spends only $5 on Pick3, do you know how much FREE MONEY that is in relevance to t

Powerball Power Play variable multiplier to return in January
It's basically a wash, no real change in total payout. All they've done is increase the variability of the 3rd-9th prizes, that's all.
The real change would be if either MM or PB steps beyond the standard 50% of sales prize pool, to maybe 55% or 60%, then that would be something.
Doesn't matter for us Californians though, being pari-mutuel with no Powerplay option.(I don't miss it though...)
On a side note, Cali finally claimed it's first Powerball Jackpot last night:

Win lottery with Gods power together
Dan,
Thank you for leading us to focus on all good things come from GOD. I won $50 Monday playing the Tx All or Nothing game. I had stopped playing after being excited when it first came out. Few years back I meditated constantly on a scripture and GOD placed that at the forefront of my mind after your email. So I played the game with all numbers adding up to 111. I went so far in my faith in GOD that after I bought ticket for morning draw I rode the bus to the Lottery Commission office

how did you play to get big winners?
Heres some tips you may find useful:
1. I read it here (LP) first and I tend to agree from my own personal observations, that the BIG PRIZE on each roll are mostly found in the middle of the roll. Someone advanced the theory that after splitting the pack, chasers are always willing to finish off the roll.
2. On average, a roll returns about 55% of the cost of the roll. In NJ, a roll costs $300. So, its Ok to assume that each roll will have winners on average about $165. For a $5 game, that

Beware Of The Halloween Millions (Millionaire) Raffle!
My curiosity was peaked when I reviewed the payouts for the upcoming INDIANA HALLOWEEN MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE. A minimum of 2 $1,000,000 prizes will be awarded nationally, and one $50,000 prize awarded to each state that does not have a $1,000,000 winner. Tickets are $10 each. Odds are based on number of tickets sold, however odds cannot be given because there is not a limit on the number of raffle tickets that can be sold! WHAT? Doesn't a raffle usually consist of a set number of tickets, thus know

$400 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot explodes
With all due respect to veganlife125 for bringing up one of my favorite quotes, it begins:
...I'm not talking a $400,000 a year working Wall Street stiff flying first class and being comfortable, I'm talking about liquid.
And back in the '80s, $400k was worth a lot more than today.
But at a net (after tax) lump sum of about $135 million (if it does not increase from the $400 million jackpot), earning only a safe 1.5% would get you a bit over $2 million per year. If you can invest bet
