Who really wins
The lottery is a game of chance. the odds are against you but someone wins and that chance could just as well be you. The lottery can't be responsible for irrResponsible players who gamble away their mortage and rent monies. In fact, most lottery commisions also advertise seeking help through a gamblers anonymous program for those who let the playing get out of hand. I like reading, bowling, playing lottery. its my hobby by choice!

Should lottery winners share with colleagues?
i agree, i've experience the loss of both parents and i'd love to have had the chance to make their lives better for all they've done for me. I do understand what the guy is talking about, my mom could keep a secret but my dad would have a hard time and most likely would have told someone and word would spread. For my safety and everyone i love I would want to remain anonymous.

A Lottery Curse
I don't think winning the lottery is a curse. Jack Whitaker, a prime example, was a successful business man prior to winning the jackpot so I assume that he thought he could handle such a large sum of money. Claiming Anonymous in California Lottery
Ok, looking at the the CA Lottery official website, I've seen news stories of Fantasy 5 winners, Super Lotto jackpot winners, and Mega Millions 5+0 winners staying anonymous. Has anyone seen stories of a California Mega Millions jackpot winner successfully claiming anonymously?

Sucessfully staying quiet?
There are some Jackpot winners that want to be known they want the attention and the notoriety.....unfortunately it will be very hard stay anonymous because like someone stated someone in your family will know and tell their friends.........my hubby comes from a large family he said he was going to tell his family that he got a settlement whether they believe it or not that's on them but that's our story and we are sticking to it...LOL.....

What do would you do if you won the lottery?
I would be so scared of publicity if i won a big Jackpot. I believe it would be a double edge sword. Is there any way of someone winning a big jackpot and remaining anonymous?

Jackpot winner dangers!
if you don't mind your name all over the newspapers, go for it. If you care about remaining anonymous and having some chance at a normal life, you might want to talk to a lawyer before doing anything. Depending on which state you live in, the name you print on the back of the ticket is the name that's released to the media.
