Winners of big lottery jackpots often crave anonymity amid challenges to do so
It's good that this subject is getting some honest press. This is a very serious issue, especially in states where you are required to claim publicly. It wouldn't be so bad if there were just, legit and honest reasons to do so. But, in each state where you have no choice in the matter, no such case is made. Most say they require public disclosure in order to prove 'there are winners and that the lottery is legit' (see Virginia state lottery website). However, those states which allow you to rema

Which odds are better?
That's because there are more numbers that are not consecutive than numbers that are consecutive.
So any specific combo is not affected by your statistic. It it irrelevent, if your goal is to win prizes more often. Seems like a silly goal to me, though, because spending lots of money to win small prizes doesn't seem like something productive.
And consecutive numbers can be randomly drawn, and are drawn, very close to how often probability dictates they should.
Of course i

Strange Mega Millions Winning Results Last Night
maybe so RJOh...
but the way i see it is that if you play 46 differnt powerballs you win only $2
but if you play a 3 if 5 line 46 times...and you get three numbers right...
then you win much more because you are paid now 46 x 7=322
(forgive me if the prize amount are incorrect...its just an example...
after all as thrifty says...playing more than one line does not increase your chances of winning...the random walk only has one outcome per draw...more lines just means more los

NYT5- Jackpotismine tagline numbers ONLY PLEASE!!
Okay I have a BiG question that I need the answer to. Ready?
What triggers a 'zero' besides another zero? In other words, when no zero is present and we are waiting for one to fall the very next day, which number(s) is 'the one' that will guarantee 80%-90% of the time a 10, 20 or 30 will fall the very next day. I just did a brief survey since I don't have the software and the answer I think is:
1st is 33
2nd is 23
Correct me if I'm wrong please. I only want to know the 1st. or the

Kansas Mega Millions winner claims jackpot anonymously
Would **I** say it takes discipline to do that... I am probably not the best person to answer that question, because I would say 'no'.
I purchase 2$ worth of tickets for each drawing pb mm... for mm that means 2 tickets per draw/2 draws/week, for pb that means 1 ticket per draw/2 draws/week.
Did I increase the amount of tickets I purchased when the drawing got obscenely high? no. Did I consider it? Momentarily, then I laughed and moved on.
Does this make me a better or worse 'gambler'?

buying multiple tickets, but only changing one number?
I was just thinking about this and wondered if anybody ever does this. Basically, if you buy 30-60 tickets and pick all the same number on every ticket, only changing one number, wouldn't this greatly increase the odds? For example, here are the odds for a state lotto picking 1 through 35 here:
5 of 5, 1:324,632
4 of 5, 1:2,164
3 of 5, 1:75
2 of 5, 1:8
But if I bought 31 tickets all with #s (for example) 4, 7, 18, 25 and just change the 5th number on each ticket, I am basical

powerball ripoff
Indeed, scratchoffs have the worse odds.
However it's more of a matter of instant gratification, people in general don't like to wait, even if it cost them more, they want to know, thus the reason as to why many sink alot more cash into scratch offs, than they might playing a multi-state game(s).
Many States also offer incentitives to players of scratch offs, such as extra prize drawings for losing tickets. (I recently won an extra 50.00 for doing just this).
Generally your odds a

$241 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery frenzy ramps up
All pontificating aside......you are taking the annuity option, therefor your payments gradually increase,so the lottery commission includes the interest in that next payment, then the payment after and so on. When that check is sent to you it comes from the state your purchased it in (Indiana)and they get to take state tax(interest included)...because the annuity and lottery paid interest is treated as income earned for that year, you are required to pay state income tax, even if you lived out o

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
CT
This is funny, The odds for the game never change unless the matrix changes. The persons chances
increase with each ticket purchased. Buying one ticket gives you a much better chance than not buying
a ticket and having more than one is even better. Chances of hitting a lower prizes improve with with
every ticket purchased unless you play the same numbers. I don't believe in prediction per-say but there
are many things a person can do to build a smarter set. If-or-and are three
