$242 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot continues to climb
I think it's great that you get to claim anonymously in Kansas. Here in Florida no way. There was a lottery winner who was murdered over his winnings. I say change the law so you remain anonymous for safety

Photos, evidence released in case of murdered Florida lottery winner
The state of Florida does not allow anonymous claims. They release your name, your city, information about the game you won, and even hold a press conference for Powerball winners. As a Florida resident, I can definitely say I'm not too happy about the whole idea. :(

Blind Trust
If you want to stay anonymous though isn't a blind trust really the only way to go (at least for states like Texas that don't allow you to claim anonymously)? From what I understand about LLCs and regular trusts is that your name is still basically out there.

If you want to claim jackpot anonymously, how do you sign the back of the ticket?
Thank you for the great info. Of course, forming a trust, LLC, or corporation is not a failsafe way of staying anonymous. The names of the trustees, or officers are usually public information (with a little digging!).

Prison guard wins $54 million lottery jackpot
Did she have a choice about remaining anonymous? If she did, she should have chosen to protect her privacy. She is going to be under enormous pressure to help family and friends, and they will melt away when the money runs out.

Who are you playing the lotto for??
I am playing for me, myself and I!!! And anyone else of my choosing. And that just might include any charities I feel worthy of a donation from a trust fund that will be set up just for that purpose so I may remain anonymous.

Will you claim the lottery
how does warning someone of a potential consequence on not being anonymous when collecting a jackpot constitute as poking a corpse? the point is not driven home to most people until an example is given.

Doctor who won lottery still wants 'to help people'
I agree completely, why didn't she report the threats, this would give the prime reason to be anonymous. There are crack pots everywhere. I will not tell. Can you give any better reason not to?
