POLL: 'Moral' obligation for a jackpot winner
truecritic Does anyone retire from a job with the idea that they are helping someone else get that job? I wonder if that even occurs to anyone as a moral reason for retirement? Well for some people there definitley comes a time to move on . Others are forced to move on. It all goes to make up attrition rates. Even multi-million dollar athletes hiy a time when it's time to move over. Earl Weaver said in all his years of managin baseball the hardest thing he ever had to do was tell

Dumbing Yourself Down To Win The Lotto
Don't anyone take this personally, because it's not meant to be that way, but the facts are, more lower-income people play the Lottery than upper-income. The facts are lower-income people are less educated than upper-income people, and upper-income people are in a different financial position, ie they can dump a lot more into a 401K, IRA, Savings Account or the Stock Market, in multiples of hundreds or even thousands, whereas lower-income people are not in a position to do that. Most feel th

what would one do if they won 34 million
it sound like your family may have screwed you over some how A lot of the people here have said they wouldn't share with family members, but I don't recall many explanations for not sharing, and it's the reasons that are important. The reason that is cited most often seems to be that they haven't received anything from their family. My parents buy a new car every 3 or 4 years, typically take at least one vacation that costs 12 to 15 grand each year, and live in a 2500 square foot hous

a rumor...don imus to join a state lottery for work
You can share if you want to, but he could have rejected the idea. Of course Imus is to blame since he is the one that made the politcally incorrect remarks. Thanks to Imus, the Governor of NJ wasted 3 hours consulting with Imus about the forth comming meeting with the Rutgers Students, instead of tending to other issues. Thanks to Imus, the Governor of NJ was injured in an automobile accident as his motorcade was traveling to meet with the Rutgers Students and Imus. FYI: Imus is a m

You got your jackpot money. Would you change/do things differently?
These are the things I have dreamed about: 1. Resign, oops, retire immediately. My last words, goodbye and good luck! 2. Sleep in as late as I wanted. 3 Travel by train and enjoy the sites. Since I will not be in a hurry, I would order a sleeper, lie back, and enjoy the ride. 3. Relocate from New Mexico to possibly Tennessee or Florida (Orlando). 4. Take time to smell the flowers!

You got your jackpot money. Would you change/do things differently?
For me, I know they say that money changes people but I have thought about this a LOT. Me personally, I wouldn't do much differently than what I do now. The most obvious change would be that I would retire. Other than that I would still keep track of how much money I spend. I'd still hang out with my favorite 3 people (my wife and kids). We'd still go out to the malls and out to eat. I wouldn't buy stuff that I didn't do prior research on (yup, I'm one of those types of people that researc

Washington Lottery's Quinto game to end in March
i agree with you that it is a lame game. IT IS THE ONLY GAME THAT I WON 2ND PLACE!!! I WAS ONE CARD AWAY FROM 2.4 MILLION. well i have heard that line from other quinto winnners. honestly they should retire the washington lotto too. it is a tired game and the pots are tired too. washington is just doing what other states are doing. plainly they are not pumping up the jackpot to get people interested anymore. quinto used to go up 100,000 every drawing it was missed. the state would put the

if you won a jackpot where in the world would you choose to live?
First stop for me is Spain for a while, fresh off a win Im going to give a shot at that El Gordo which is a game that turns me on. Then Amsterdam for a bit. Vegas has always been one of my favorites but not necessarily for the gambling but the warm misquito free evenings, walking down the strip with liquor in hand and the party's that end when the sun comes up (and some not even then) Florida or Georgia seems to be good states to retire in but there will be plenty of time fo

powerball rolls
How much is enough ? I honestly am not picky - I'd take 240 mill, or 15 mill, either amt I can retire on, and so can you. If I were to win it, I'd put some in investments, spread some across several bank accounts (multiple FDIC insurances then), and I'd put 5-6 mill in a place I can't get to it for 5 years, then I'd spend the rest, and create some charitable trusts. Then I'm going to enjoy spending the rest of it, and I'm NOT going to babysit it, life is too short, the LAST thing I wa
