Why do the folks in the East always seem to win??
From the Powerball website FAQ page: HOW COME THE ONLY JACKPOT WINNERS ARE FROM THE [EAST - WEST - NORTH - SOUTH - CITIES - RURAL AREAS]? HOW COME ONLY [WHITE, BLACK, TALL, SKINNY, YOUNG, OLD] PEOPLE WIN? Powerball is a random game that knows nothing about who buys a ticketor where the ticket was purchased. There really is nowhite/black/old/young/rich/poor, etc.] button on the machine. If onedraws a box around some group of players (eg., state border, haircolor, shoe size), then that gr

Money Matters 101
Yeah, I have box hits and pairs galore but I always play for the str8 which costs more. Thus, the box and pair hits will not cover the losses here and it's the draw back of playing str8...miss one number and you're done. I like it, though, because it's where the money is. Listen, this isn't a BIG ME and LITTLE YOU type of thing where I just know so much, okay. It's really about the application of numbers in many, many ways which allows flexibility when playing. I study numbers all day...even

What is the probability of this happening again?
It is that simple. What you've done is list all possible outcomes and the ratio between two types of outcomes, and assumed that the ratio can be used to determine the probabilty of one unlikely set of possible outcomes. That works for the possible outcomes of a single event, but not multiple iterations, as in this case. In essence you're using each new flip to change the probability of previous flips. Let's start from flip # 2 and then look at what happens with flip # 3. As you correctly note

Canada's Lotto Max game to begin in Sept.
I have relatives in Canada. I'm told lot of folks feared that the $2 per play increase for Lotto 6/49 would kill the game. Guess what. Players weren't happy, but they kept on playing! In fact, sales increased, or so I've been told. I bet some folks are saying that a $5 ticket (for 3 games) in LottoMax will stop folks from playing. I doubt it! The US lotteries should realize that raising the cost of lottery ticket to $2 probably wouldn't hurt the games. I would pay an extra doll
