This is a statistic I do not normally track so it is hard to say if it is a record but it certainly appears to be. Since July 9, 2025 (over 6 months ago), either Powerball or Mega Millions had a jackpot of at least $217 million. The Mega Millions jackpot was won at $90 million and has reset to $50 million. The jackpot was supported by sales by about $69 million. The run that just ended was experiencing an increase in sales most likely due to the recent $983 million jackpot. I stopped playing the Mega Millions after the price of tickets increased to $5. I play the Powerball every drawing, because I predict that Powerball will eventually raise the price of tickets to $5 to compete with Mega Millions. Lets face it, you know Mega Millions is now increasing their revenue with the jackpot at $800 million, because most people will buy at least one ticket even if the price is at $5.

I was curious about this today so posed a question on Google. The site I was led to (but can't find again) said that Mega Millions promised no steady increases of any set amount but yet it seems lately that $10 millioin is a given. False advertising?
