Jackpot code on scratch tickets
I'd never heard that the big winners have losing codes on them...figures...I've probably thrown away a couple of jackpots over the years! I wonder if the codes are the same in all states? Are all scratchers produced by the same company? The most I have won has been $500. IIRC the code was F H R I've won $350, that code was F R E. Last St. Pat's Day weekend I played three days in a row; on Friday I won $100, on Saturday I won $50 and on Sunday I won $500....and I'm not even Irish

N.J. Lottery scratch games called 'paper slot machines'
Stephen Sunny Big Guy Bernath buys a fistful of instant lottery tickets every day and takes his place on a wooden bench next to a garbage can in front of the Krauszer's R J Food Store in Perth Amboy. There, the heavyset 70-year-old man rubs each ticket with a finger, cusses at it, then tosses it in the trash.Rub, cuss, toss.Rub, cuss, toss.He has been known to do this for hours, filling the garbage can with his losers before going back into the store to try his luck again. Hoosier Lottery increases funds for security
People wouldn't play the Hoosier Lottery if they didn't think they could win. That's why the William C. Foreman case is so troubling for those who run the state's lottery. For months, officials have been trying to repair the damage done when Foreman, a former lottery investigator, was accused in November of obtaining insider information to help friends get a $1 million scratch-off ticket. Prosecutors say he had his friends buy every ticket in a store where he knew there was a winner.Lottery offici

Why you might go bankrupt if your next-door neighbor wins the lottery
The analysis only contained postal codes with 13 households? That's pretty small isn't it? No, the analysis contained all Canadian neighborhoods, divided up by postal code. Each Canadian postal code, on average, contains about 13 households. The methodology was to compare bankruptcy rates in each winner's postal code (i.e. the winner's immediate neighbors) with the rates in nearby postal codes, where people's general economic status is about the same, but they aren't quite so physically close

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
From what I have noticed, the majority of the players are older and I would say 75% of them are on government assistant. The trend is that it gets really busy in the beginning of the month when they get their funds. I have witness an old man lost his whole check scratching away while he had plan to spend it on groceries for the month. On one occasion, a man won 12k on a $2 scratcher and was unable to claim it since he can't send it in as they will take it all away. He ended up selling it to some

In PA they got rid of the codes..they said it was too easy to cheat..yeah, right...like, they were all over the game play area, how can you cheat? They pulled the parenthesis too in the game awhile back..it was so easy to scratch the line number and see if you won in the line of numbers...it would go like this - 124243(100)3456498 - something easy like that anyway. Soo, now they just have the scan to win/lose block. WHO can even trust THAT?...sometimes I wonder. I liked the letter codin

NY deli owners stole $1M lottery ticket, cops say
When my sister first moved to NY (LI) she bought a lottery ticket -I believe she had 4 or 5 numbers-she went to cash it in and was told she had won $340 The next day she went to work and was telling co-workers of her good fortune -when one of them asked her How much did you get???? when my sister told her-she said to my sister-- they cheated you!!! turned out the co-worker's brother had the same amount of numbers--only he had to go to the lottery's office to collect because the payoff was

Thank you James, I guess I could be shocked but at least you have a code. Our new tickets are missing letters of any kind to indicate winners/losers. Pity, I wonder how many are tossed. Hmm, in the case of your ticket, if you missed one match you were sure to find one of the other 4...it is more obvious. But on a ticket with one match, a negligent, rushed scratcher may easily overlook a big winner, scratch the code, think it's a loser and throw it away. So if your codes for winner

Wonderful Vergie!! Wow am I happy you didn't toss it...I think sometimes there are more winners in the trash especially with new or confusing tickets. The color scheme they use on some makes the bonus box on games blend in so people just do not see them. This is very bad. In our state, they've removed letter codes from new tickets and replaced them with scratch to cash boxes - bad idea for some, great idea for PA lottery. People that are unaware of the change might throw away winn
