By Todd Northrop
Arriving together with the year's holiday season, the current Powerball jackpot of $1 billion could make the winner into the ultimate real-life Santa Claus.
The Powerball jackpot has been building for 41 consecutive drawings since the last winner on September 6 , when two tickets sold in Missouri and Texas split a $1.7874 billion jackpot the second-largest lottery jackpot in history. Both tickets h

This week lottery players across the United States will be pulling out all the stops to try and win Powerball, featuring one of the largest lottery jackpots in history, worth an estimated $1.3 billion.
The Powerball jackpot has been building for 40 consecutive drawings since the last winner on May 31 , when one ticket from California won a $204.5 million jackpot. The ticket was sold at the 7

Someone Above said if someone in Uk wins the lottery they can take the money and run away and not pay complete Federal tax later. And am thinking Now how can you run away in the first place when they gave you no Lump sum option only annuity. If you run away they freezes the rest of your Annuity Payments
Ok when people win Powerball the top tax is like 37 percent. There are two ways to pay federal government. One way is the player pays 37 percent and the other way is l guess each sold t

$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
One thing I truly miss is bump up to the jackpot like in the good old days. Gone for good I'd say.
Considering that they've done it 4 times in the last 4 months it hardly seems like it no longer happens. Changing to 3 drawings per week has a minor effect, but the real issue is that lottery sales per drawing are generally slower than they used to be. Even so, the current PB run is a rare exception (as of now) for not bumping some of the jackpots for runs that made it past the billion dollar

New Jersey couple wins $3 million lottery prize six months after winning $1 million
A husband-and-wife team defied insurmountable odds 0
Apparently the odds were completely surmountable.
That's not how probabilities are calculated at all.
That's exactly how odds are calculated.
For instance, the odds of someone winning both PB MM jackpot would be 1 in 292M*290M.
That's the odds of winning both games if you buy only a single ticket for each game. If you buy 10 tickets for each game the probability of winning either is increased tenfold to 1 in 29.2 and 1 i

Smaller lottery unexpectedly targeted by purchasing group prompts security discussions
Plans partially foiled by another winner
By Kate Northrop
The Montana Lottery is the latest state to propose rules that would prohibit bulk ticket purchases after an unknown entity bought hundreds of thousands of tickets to scoop a $1.6 million Montana Cash jackpot in May.
One by one, state lotteries across the nation have been taking proactive steps to curb the possibility of organized groups

I know that this is technically not a lottery question, it's about PCH Sweepstakes bankruptcy .
He bought a house on six acres, presumably with a 30 year mortgage. $260k a year minus taxes minus reasonable living expenses and a 5 year mortgage would pay for a decent house.
Of course, he could save up the money for a few years and then pay cash, but that would cost a lot more if he was renting.
It's not so much the mortgage itself but being mortgaged to the hilt. Borrowing as much as possible and spending every penny is a really bad idea.

Idaho man wins the lottery for the 18th time over 30 years
The $200K in 2014 was a decent win.
Pretty certain he walked away with $100K plus after taxes.
If so far he's spent more than $100K on tickets, that's very impressive

I will deep my fingers into the pot with a ticket purchase.

89 second prize winners for the powerball
Please forgive me in advance.
But if we don't have at least one Lottery Post Player among the 89 second prize winners, who used their system to win, well, well, well.
Enough said
I will be getting my QP for the Saturday draw. $5M after taxes is still good.
