Money Matters: Sudden wealth advice
Play the lottery in a state where you can be anonymous. If you win the jackpot, hire a financial advisory team. Make sure they don't tell anyone. Don't tell anyone (family, friends, etc.). Set up a will. Move to a different location. It's as simple as that.

Bus driver wins £2m lottery jackpot three months after divorce
Why did he go public? The UK lottery allows winners to remain anonymous, he should have taken that option. What is to be gained by going public?

Remaining anonymous
In some states, including mine(Louisiana), some claim their prize using a trust, corporation, LLC, or something of that nature, and send their lawyer to collect the money, do the press conference, etc. It isn't necessarily 100% anonymous, but it does make more work for someone trying to find out who you are. If I hit it big, I'd probably use one of these methods to get the money, then I'd move somewhere nobody knows me, and start a new life.

Will you take your $207 million win in cash?
My loved ones getting kidnapped is my ultimate fear when it comes to having a lot of money. That is why staying anonymous is so important!

Police: Fla. Lotto winner buried under concrete
I hope he can now RIP...However staying anonymous would have not helped this poor man...It was the people he chose to bring into his circle that most likely was his own demise...The world is full of unconscious animals...Whether we are dirt poor or filthy rich, we have to take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves AT ALL TIMES...

Anonymity
Look,
This poor guy lost his life not because he didn't stay anonymous. He got stupid hanging around his buddies from the hood. He gave out money like it was candy. In short, he hung with bad people to start with.
If I win big, I'm not too worried about being anonymous. I just won't flaunt it and I won't hang out with hoods. Hell, I don't hang out with anybody now, so that ain't gonna change. Just be smart, that's all.

Investigators dig for evidence in missing Florida Lottery winner case
The thing is, even if you were allowed to remain anonymous: no press conference, press release, no photo, you're still not entirely safe. Anyone, including predators, can request the name and info of the winner of any prize, and the Lottery has to release it.

If you win the jackpot, do you go to tv and news?
Does California allow you to claim anonymously? And how does that work exactly? Unless you do the trust thing the people at the office will know who you are. If I were to ever win a jackpot I'll stay as anonymous as long as possible.

Should Lottery Commissions Be Obligated To Maintain Your Anonymity?
I voted for the winner to choose. IMO the public has the right to know who won but the winner as the right to stay anonymous. Has there ever been a case where a winner's loved one was a victim of kidnapping??

What is your response if your spouse or significant other claimed a lottery jackpot without you?
Another reason to buy scratch-off tickets instead of a draw. You can divorce and then claim saying that it was purchased after the divorce, just be sure to have an anonymous safety deposit box somewheres.
