Ohio SuperLottoPlus Hit Last Night
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on March 24, 2005If you prefer the annuity, you will NEVER win. That's not correct in Ohio, you have 60 days after winning the jackpot to decide annuity or cash, so that decision does not affect your chances of winning.RJOh

CA Lottery- My Way.
Quote: Originally posted by dvdiva on March 19, 2005 I think for starters the annuity for super lotto plus should be the same amount over 30 years instead of the nonsence that the current game has and the cash option should be at least 50%.I think of the graduated annuity as training wheels to being rich. You won't get too much at first, and you'll get more and more each year as you gain experience with your money. But to each their own...

CA Lottery- My Way.
yes. all drawings would be televised with ball machines. each annuity payment would still increase each year. it's their way of getting people to take the annuity.jimmy: since you know more about ball machines than i do, you can pick which ones.

Mass Mega$uck$
i do agree that MA needs to add a cash option, but they also need to increase the starting jackpot and annuity period. $400,000 over 20 years is $20,000 a year. now if you win, there's no retiring early. increasing the annuity period will make for a bigger annuitized jackpot.

cash vs. annuity
Does not look like there are many that would take the state's annuity. Besides, you can always buy your own annuity with all or part of the money if you want to - you'd probably get a better deal if you shopped around.

Latest Powerball Winner Chooses ANNUITY
That could be true. However, they could have accomplished the same thing by purchasing their own annuity, perhaps municipal bonds, so they could get the interest tax-free, at least at the federal level. Also, didn't someone here once say that it's more of a gamble to take the annuity than to take cash because of the uncertainty of future payments? You don't know what will happen to lotteries and the related laws over the next thirty years.

Latest Powerball Winner Chooses ANNUITY
Quote: Originally posted by ryanm on March 8, 2005So much for Cash Only's theory that those who choose annuity will never win a jackpot! They both look to be under 30 yrs. old, so annuity could be a good choice for them, beside what does Cash Only really know about winning a lottery jackpot?RJOh

cash vs. annuity
Quote: Originally posted by ryanm on February 22, 2005 Also, do you really think you'd spend the whole year's payment in a year if you took the annuity? Really, who needs more than $100,000 a year? There have been many lottery jackpot winners who've done exactly that, then borrowed money against the next payment (or several). If someone's fiscally irresponsible enough to blow an lump-sum payout at once, I don't think they'd be any better off taking the annuity. Not that I ever expect to win, bu

What do you fear upon winning?
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on March 5, 2005 Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on March 5, 2005 Being told I would have to receive the prize through an annuity. If you know what the rules are when you buy your ticket and one is the top prize is paid in an annuity, why would you fear hearing the same after you won?RJOhI think he's afraid that the rules will change on him without his knowledge.
