Personally I hope that the state does not go out of its way to protect us from ourselves. If someone is intent on buying tickets, they will buy two $10 tickets instead of one $20 ticket. I said IF you had observed it. I didn't say it was observable in your data set. The point is the probability of observing the event has to include ALL the events you COULD HAVE observed. All sets of three have an exactly equal probability of having the same gap. Look hard enough with enough data manipulations and you can find all sorts of improbable things easily.

Yeah I saw that and that's what I immediately though. They know this will be one for the record books. Couple years ago when they did the last record PB drawing they said they may do it at a special location if this reaches 1billion...so we may see a special televised event on saturday night too. I can easily see this reach 900 million as the jackpot...but maybe not quite the billion dollar mark yet....

Was the lottery app the property of the UK lottery commission, or some private company ?? If the lottery app belonged to the UK lottery commission, and confirmed that the ticket was purchased before the deadline, I think the couple could sue the UK lottery commission for their winnings, b/c the computer glitch was the fault of the UK lottery commission app. However, they should read the online contract that they had to agree to when they purchased the lottery app online in the first place. It's not going to matter. Since this is not an annuity payout your liability will rest in the state in which you resided upon the purchase of the ticket. This takes for granted you are a US citizen. I meant to add to my previous post that a lot of Lawyers are very good, and take care of these things, professionally, as they're expected. But never having understood what a Trust is or does, just confuses the whole money thing for me, in the event I win the BIG PRIZE, which I know will likely NOT happen. Still, I need to know what the Trust thing is all about.
