Californians react to Mega Millions decision
Plus the annuity in the CA game stinks. I think they even give below 50% cash. I do know that it's not the same amount of cash over the years of the annuity. It grows with time (and inflation).

FL Lotto-5. Feb. 2004- 7 Jackpot Winners.
just took a look at the winning stores. 5 of the 7 were sold at the same store. anyone else think one person holds 5 of the 7 tickets. i'd sure hate to be one of the other 2. one person gets approx $2.5 million (cash), or $4 million (annuity), while the other 2 get approx. $500,000 (cash) or $1 million (annuity).

Powerball Expansion.
If u take a 1 billion annuity, u can still have enough money to do what you want. for 30 years, that's 33m a year minus taxes. that should be about 21 ,22 million a year. That's a lot. I'd definately take that. then in 30 years i'll have over 600 million versus your about 300 million. =)it's still your money whether it's an annuity or not.

Cash-O's pick doesn't need to be posted... it is Lump Sum . always has been...I have to agree with the overall message... cash or annuity, it should be up to the winner, not the state... I'm in PA where they used to make you pick cash or annuity at the time of purchase for stupid6, and the home of the now infamous Unlucky for life and the other $2 wonder game, Match6 (another you pick one line and we pick 2 horrible lines for you like stupid 6, only at twice the price with a much smaller ja

California Lottery to consider multi-state game
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on February 2, 2005 I would prefer CA join Powerball since Mega Million members NY and TX require the cash/annuity choice when you play; CA Super Lotto Plus does also. All PB members allow the choice after you win.In NJ you have to select cash or annuity when you play.

Powerball Expansion.
I'd take the cash mainly because I don't have a house. I would much rather have the house in a trust to protect it from lawsuits than to have a mortgage against winnings. Mind you a big annuity is much better than what I have now but I'd much rather have the cash to make my own annuity rather than leave it up to the state.

What do you think is the worst game?
although mass. megabucks is annuity-only, i do like the $1 price. a cash option would bring in more sales, and possibly an increase in the starting jackpot. $400,000 (annuitized) is not enough, and the fact that the $400,000 is paid over 20 years ($20,000/year before taxes) doesn't exactly set someone for life. also, the annuity period should be longer than 20 years. 25-30 year annuities make for bigger, better jackpots.

Georgia
Most players do choose cash. The only times most players choose annuity is when the choice time is up, or they don't have an option. I prefer cash, but I'd still be happy with an annuity.

Mass. lottery winner, 94, sues to get lump-sum payment
LOL at DoctorEw220's message! While I can understand a 95 year old wanting a lump-sum pay out - Megabucks is clearly an annuity game, if she did not want an annuity - she should not have played it. There are many games where I would like to change the rules - but that does mean I can!
