$10M lottery winner squanders fortune
I bet he wishes he remained anonymous. One of the problem of shouting your mouth off is, people come out of the woodwork worth investment proposals . Discretion is the better part of valor.

$31 million lottery claimed by anonymous winner
It's good to see California is sensible in allowing lottery winners to be anonymous. California is usually ahead of the curve with law making.

Which scenario would you prefer??
I would say option 2 because no matter what state I lived in and I happened to win a jackpot prize, I would utilize the services of a team of lawyers. Of course, I would be present at the claiming, so I would not worry about any shinanigans taking place. Truthfully, I am not so concerned about remaining anonymous as I would be about setting up the appropriate structures to protect my wealth. I would move into more upscale living accommodations and drive nicer cars.

Which scenario would you prefer??
Thanks for the responses, but what made you reach that decision? Either way, you would be anonymous, but is either option better than the other? Why or why not?

Lucky you to be in California. LottoCalGal just called the state's lottery commission to confirm that the state of CA allows winners to remain anonymous. Wish Idaho would. I'll have to go thru all sorts of maneuvers to remain anon when I win here.

-Anonymity-
I'm not scared of winning. I have no reason to hide. I understand those who have a need for anonymity, but if you play in a state that doesn't allow it, you just have to deal with it. There is no way in hades that I would wait to cash a winning ticket in the hopes that my state would suddenly allow me to be anonymous. No way.
