Who is Sam Bankman-Fried and Why Are The Fed's After Him?
There might be a few LP members that have heard the name 'Sam Bankman-Fried' in the news but haven't been following the story. Although Sam's story has nothing to do with the lottery, it's a doozie of a story, so I thought I'd put something out here about what he did, but explain it in plain English as it's a very complex financial story involving crypto-currency's such as Bitcoin.
Sam is a thirty something type of guy with a huge head of hair...a real mop top . He was also a billionaire, bu

Profile Viktor Gjonaj who scammed investors to pay for his lottery addiction
This is a profile of Viktor Gjonaj, the Michigan-based real estate broker who made a bunch of fake companies and scammed a bunch of people to pay for his multi-million dollar addiction to Pick 4.
Some good excerpts from the article:
Gjonaj had won only a few hundred thousand dollars, he estimates, until June 2017, when he noticed that the number 7-8-0-0 often appeared at least once or twice a year. Believing that the number 7-8-0-0 was due, he started to buy between 300 and 1,000 $12 ti

UK pals jailed for winning £4 million in lottery using stolen debit card
They bought the ticket with stolen money. That kind of negates their claim.
The ticket was in their possession, but again.. Although it is a bearer document, it was obtained through fraud (proceeds of a crime).
there are laws relating to proceeds of a crime. basically, the criminal doesn't get to keep said proceeds.
It isn't clear who gets the ticket. All Camelot did was advise the police that they believed a crime had been committed.
It is probably up to the courts ti decide w

Would you still turn in dishonest Lottery Clerk even after they gave you your full amount?
My short answer, in most cases, is no. There are so many variables though. If it's one of those dinky corner store joints, I just wouldn't go back there again, maybe post what happened on Yelp or Google. But if you mean report it to whomever the manager or owner is, first, there's the old your word against theirs stalemate, and then there's the set up where the clerk is the owner's relative, or more likely, it's such a minor thing, the owner just doesn't care. As long as the clerk wasn't stealin

Predicting winning numbers? Fact or fiction?
From reading your various posts Statz, it appears to me that you rely solely on mathematical probability as it is pointed out to you by your various pieces of software. When those numbers don't get drawn, you accuse the lottery officials of rigging the drawing.
I attempted to show you another possible method for looking at past drawings and look for trends and or patterns to help in choosing numbers for the current draw. You blew it off as you called them records, I see it as data to analyze,

Texas lottery thief caught after attempting to cash stolen tickets
By Kate Northrop
A thief who stole two whole bins of Texas Lottery scratch-off tickets from a gas station has been caught by police after he attempted to cash in a prize.
On July 19 at 3:00 am, surveillance cameras captured the moment Kendall Hayes, 27, broke into the Copper Ridge Market on TX-29 in Georgetown. A man identified as Hayes pulled up to the convenience store in his car and smashed an object through the glass door. He then snatched two bins of scratch-off lottery tickets and dr

Michigan Lottery warns public about increase in prize scams during coronavirus outbreak
The Michigan Lottery is warning the public about a scam in which people are told they've won a big prize but need to pay a fee or provide sensitive personal information to collect it.
The scam works like this: A person gets a letter, email, or phone call to inform them that they've won a big lottery prize but must pay a fee or provide sensitive personal information to collect the prize.
If the person agrees to pay a fee, the scam artist convinces them to mail a cashier's check, make an ele

Mega Millions to adjust starting jackpot amount, eliminate minimum increases
they need to adjust the ticket price downward to match the lower jackpot.
I'm pretty sure that if they adjust the ticket price it's going to automatically adjust the jackpot by a corresponding amount. The result is that unless the reduced price results in a significant increase in ticket sales the reduced price means the jackpots will get even smaller. Anyone who's been paying attention knows that PB and MM have proved over the past few years that the higher ticket price results in bigger j
