Story: Once upon a time an LP member
Delaware, a now anonymous state. But the monkey told Tarzan Delaware isn't really a state, it's a corporation, and neither one of them was named Du Pont.

Setting a trust for anonymity: how does it work?
If you live in Pennsylvania, why not just go to a border state that allows anonymity? Ohio (with the help of a trust) and Maryland both allow winners to remain anonymous.

How do you play other States
I am considering flying to a far away state and buying a large amount of tickets there, but I want to win the jackpot in a state where I can remain anonymous.

Would you travel to an "anonymous" state JUST to buy lottery tickets?
Would you travel to an anonymous state JUST to buy lottery tickets? Only if I could do so anonynmously. Justxploring once put up a hilarious post about a jackpot winner becoming famous after winning a court case for their right to remain anonymous. I could just see a newspaper headline: _ _ _ _ _ _ man travels to _ _ _ _ _ _ to buy lottery tickets anonymously, hits jackpot, passes up press conference in _ _ _ _ _.

Would you travel to an "anonymous" state JUST to buy lottery tickets?
i voted yes no matter the distance because when i first started playing the lottery i wanted to win and then go on the Oprah Winfrey show and give interviews to cnn and other media outlets but i guess im older and wiser now so i can only think of one person i would want to show off in front off so that is not worth the risk of exposing myself to so many negative people and criminals. i dont travel to an anonymous state right now but on vacations if i end up in one i always get a long term ticket

Life After Winning The Lottery
Neither do I, although what Coin Toss wrote is true. Most people want to be left in peace and stay anonymous if possible, but that doesn't apply to all winners. I hope I wasn't misunderstood. I was trying to say I didn't think there was really anything wrong with the attention he was getting, if that's what he wants.. just that I find it boring after the first 2 times.

Setting a trust for anonymity: how does it work?
my reference to JW in this thread was intended as evidence, an example among many to substantiate how the issue of anonymity is a very important one when it comes to lottery winners... You did read the story you quoted, right? Jack Whittaker went out and found his own trouble more often than the trouble found him, and almost every time the trouble found him it was because he was waving a giant flag at it. JW is the undisputed poster child for the lottery not making everything rosy, but he

Jack W. On 20/20 Tonight
I saw it last night. I felt extremely sorry for Whittaker, especially due to the loss of his granddaughter. Not only did he mentioned that his estranged wife, Jewell, wishes that she had torn the ticket up, but he said at the end of that interview that he wished that he had never won the jackpot. I live about an hour from Kansas (which allows anonymity), and this interview reminds me of how important it is to remain anonymous.

Why the sudden concern with anonymity ?
What do you consider a 'large jackpot' ??? My state's 'large jackpot' is AT MOST $200,000, and is USUALLY around $75,000 - hardly worth having to go underground with, I would not consider that 'small' amount to be worth the trouble of trying to remain anonymous, I mean, why ? And what about the posting from someone saying they would travel to another state to buy tickets JUST to remain anonymous ? Why would anyone care about another state's lottery when the jackpot isn't anywhere near a
