$70 million Calif. SuperLotto winner comes forward
In California, they don't release our city of residence unless we give them permission to do so. It's not considered public records. However, they do release the city where the ticket was purchased. I assume the vast majority of tickets purchased are fairly close to where they live or work, so one can make an assumption that the winner probably lives or works nearby.

Will You QUIT Your Current Job
Most businesses are giving everyone they release from work for whatever reason severance pay now (secretaries to attorneys). But you have to sign the agreement where you promise not to malign them, not to discuss the terms, etc, you agree not to sue them later/a legal release, and it helps a company hide layoffs/financial issues before they are found out (not saying it is right, but it is routine now in a lot of companies).

well the winner still haven't come forward yet $590 Mil PB
If it was me, I'd still be researching whether I could change my name, and have the lottery only release my new name. I'm a little concerned they'd release any AKA you've had in the last year. A name change takes a couple months in most states. If I couldn't change my name, I'm sure I'd still be changing phone numbers, finding a safe place to live that's not in my name, interviewing lawyers and accountants, etc. That would take a few weeks at least. I hope the ticket's not lost, too.

Would you remain Anonymous or have a Press Conference after winning the Jackpot?
Not true. Media can obtain the beneficiary/shareholder of the Trust/Corporation and release your name since that info is public record. They can include your name with the press release that the prize has been claimed via XYZ Trust.

Millions in lottery winnings go unclaimed each year
The California lottery had no right to release the winner's surveillance photo, especially only after one month after the drawing. What I'm saying is there might be a reason to release the surveillance photo under extreme circumstances, like if a multi-million dollar ticket was set to expire in a month.

How often does your state release new games?
PA releases new instant tickets at least every month. Sometimes they will release holiday-themed games during the middle of a given month. For example, they will release the Halloween games in the middle of September.

Investigators dig for evidence in missing Florida Lottery winner case
The thing is, even if you were allowed to remain anonymous: no press conference, press release, no photo, you're still not entirely safe. Anyone, including predators, can request the name and info of the winner of any prize, and the Lottery has to release it.
