If you had 10 bucks to bet...
The chart proves by betting the $10 one time, the player can expect to match 2 numbers and because they should, it sightly increases the chances of matching 3, 4, or 5 numbers. However while the chances are slightly better, they still can only expect to get one 2 number match. I'm assuming the intentions of the players are to win the jackpot so if the $10 better craps out on the first drawing, the $1 better still has 9 more chances to win. If you had 10 bucks to bet...
Hi JadeLottery: Interesting thread. I answered not as a john/jane doe lottery player, which I'm not, applying my own personal approach and reasoning without trying to super-impose it on what john or jane might do. On those occasions when I buy a lottery ticket it's because I have a particular set of numbers I believe stand a better chance of hitting than all the other numbers that might hit. I wouldn't buy them otherwise. If I bought quickpicks I might choose another way answering your questi

What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
Ameriken, I've seen people demand another QP when they get one like the one below. I buy them later from the clerk when he has some. JADELottery's current poll in Lottery Discussion, If you had 10 bucks to bet..., gets at this issue in a subtle way. You never know how the cookie is going to crumble. My experience has been, especially watching simulations run, is that over time, it all comes out in the wash! --Jimmy4164

Best JackPot LP Member Pick UR JP (favor winner) (4/2011)...
I voted for the second choice which says: This is my true statement 2 my comment 2 poll I don't know what the hell that means because it doesn't make any sense but it's the thought that counts and that's why I voted for it. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

DID Mega Millions roll over ?
The Poll says different (so far) and I would argue most human beings choose to quick pick. ...pretty obvious... ....... NOT !!!

Lottery Savings Account
Your statement is predicated on a jackpot winner taking a lump sum prize (although, as we all know, all amounts awarded--other than the big on--are lump sum awards)--I just know when I talk about winning lotteries--I'm talking about the jackpots, not the $300 I won last week and last month on my state's version of a pick 5 game. Before you make this type of a statement-perhaps you might need to conduct ANOTHER poll asking just how many respondents who would be so lucky to win a jackpot p

Hi Everyone...Need help with our Lottery Club in Florida
I run a pool at my office and every 2 weeks(payday), the 13 members put in $4 and I buy a mix of Powerball and Louisiana Lotto tickets. I roll back small prizes into the pool for more tickets. Last year with the Millionaire Raffle going on, we won $10 on one round and I polled the membership to see if they wanted to buy a raffle ticket and the majority said yes. If we win enough this time, I'll do another poll and do the same if the majority agrees. The numbers I use are a combination of n

Straight versus Box
Looks like Straight/Box has taken the lead in the poll, that is what I typically bet myself, and I suspected that would be the favorite. Seems like a reasonable compromise with the 50c/50c split bet, you cover 6 times as many numbers as straight, but if you do hit straight you still get about 2/3 of the prize compared to a $1 straight bet. We don't have any of the fancy 1-off or front/back-pair bets in CA pick 3, and I'm not sure I'd ever use those even if we had them. But I assume at least s

Consecutive losing tickets
Interesting poll. I think the most losers I have had is in the 7-9 range for the $10 and $20 tickets. For the $2 ones, hmm, it may be higher but I couldnt remember for sure...(probably one of those situations you drop from memory as best you can)
