PowerBall & MegaMillions Sold In Same State?
Are there any states that sell both PowerBall and MegaMillions? I'm thinking not, and I always thought it's because the population of one state couldn't/wouldn't support both. But then my state added Hot Lotto to its stable of lottery products, and really, what's the difference? In fact, I'm thinking MegaMillions would bring more sales than Hot Lotto. You confuse the term unlikely with impossible. It's statistically unlikely anyone who buys a PB or MM tickets will ever win the jackpot, but somewhere 2-4 times every month there's a winner so it's possible but rare. People who like to play when the jackpots are $100M+ are lucky that there are people who will play to win a $12M jackpot or there would never be any $100M+ jackpots for them. Besides the odds of winning are the same regardless of the jackpot size.

This is my poll question. Which one will set a record? At one point, Mega Millions sales in California were expected to fall 37 percent below budget for the fiscal year that ended June 30. The final numbers aren't out, but the lottery got a boost when a Mega Millions jackpot reached a record $390 million in March. A lack of big jackpots was to blame for poor sales, lottery officials said I've been saying it forever only to be shot down by people on this post. It's because people want to see a jackpot reach the $400M mark. To me it doesn't really matter. I could care less whether or not it makes it to $400M, however it is pretty exciting to see such a large jackpot. Most people would probably be just as happy taking home(after taxes) $50M as they would $100M. Hell, even $25M for that matter. After all, most people play the lottery so they can retire.
