Average multiplier means that over time you will average a 3x multiplier. Not too hard to understand, and the info that most people want to know. I acknowledge that other people want to know other statistics about the multiplier motivated by trying to show one thing or another, but I am confident that most people want the average to be able to understand how their prizes will pay out over the long term. (Perhaps for budgetary purposes.)

l just Bought My new mega millions today in Florida was impressed. Bought two tickets on one slip and it gave me a X3 multiplier on top number and X5 multiplier on second number even though they both on one ticket so am very happy with the multiplier cool

Our pool has their tickets for the Friday Mega Millions draw. We did very well with the multipliers. In the previous two draw, our highest multiplier was 3 times. But with our new tickets, the lowest multiplier is 3 times! Plus with have 2 tickets with a 5 times multiplier and 1 ticket with a 10 times multiplier. Good luck to everyone playing on Friday!

Because these two games have different prices, in order to compare the two games, let's say I wish to spend $10 (the smallest amount with which I can buy a whole number of tickets for either game). I am only considering PB with no multiplier for $1 extra. Personally, I consider the multiplier option a waste of money. If I want to spend more money on lottery tickets, I'll just buy more of them. I just noticed there is a change in plans for our pool. The pool bought both Mega Millions and Powerball tickets this time. Mega Millions for Friday and Powerball for Saturday. That would really be something if the pool won both games on the same weekend. There would be one heck of an investigation. The Mega Millions tickets had one 5 times multiplier and one 4 times multiplier. No multiplier option selected for the Powerball tickets.
